Let's be real D12 left LA largely because he would have been second filddle behind Kobe. Another few years playing second fiddle to Kobe would be too much.
I'm no D12 fan but let''s not forget Kobe took twice as many FG attempts through out the year.
It's easier to say that he didnt like the MDA system, but the truth is that no other star can play with a ball hog like Kobe. Only a soft Gasol can fill that role.

Maybe Dwight would get more shot attempts if he could,
A.) Keep the ball up high and not get stripped every other time he catches the ball down low
B.) Have more post moves than a running hook shot in the lane
C.) Have the ability to make more FTs than he misses

This is an accurate post, I am disappointed that Dwight did not straightup address it, but who cares when everyone already knows it. It was a lose-lose situation for Dwight in LA, when he does well the Lakers fans say Kobe helped him do that, when he doesn't do well the Lakers fans say he isn't even a top 10 center in the league. Dwight had his reasons to take time considering the amount that he was going to leave on the table(actually it's net $9 million, not $30 because there's no state income tax in Texas, still huge money though), but I think that Dwight made the right decision.

future of the franchise? dwight might never be as athletic as he was before his surgery again. and his game is 100% athleticism. even if he gets back to his old athletic self he has 5 years at best before his athleticism declines for good.
the lakers might as well pay a 40 year old kobe 30 mil a year for the next 5 years and have bigger chance of success than paying this scrub around the same money while not getting even close to the same profits they would make from jersey sales and what not that they would from kobe.

Yes he was the only option because kobe is sitting on the bench collecting a 30 MILLION dollar salary and useless Gasol taking in 20 Million. For 30-50 Mil you could get CP3 and a 3rd option (young athletic, not on the way to retirement).
Probably one of the main reasons he was willing to be traded to LA was that Kobe was on his way out. He said he would retire after this current contract, then afterwards changed his mind and now wants to play 2-4 more years. Definitely a big reason he didn't come back. He would be stuck with old ass players and an old ballhogging chucker for YEARS.

He is and always will be a shoot first scorer. That is in his nature. But we did see him adjust his game in a major way in the 2nd part of the season. There was a stretch where he was almost having a triple double every night and was making a conscious effort to get it done by facilitating. If anyone tried to adjust his game to the personnel, it was Kobe. I mean, you are basically asking a NBA champ and all time great who was a score first player for 16 years to become a player he really is not accustomed to be. So the fact that he was willing to change up his game, and do it successfully for stretches, is a testament to him. To me, Dwight never got it. As big a ego Kobe has, Dwight's is up there with him as well. All he needs to do is be a defensive anchor, grab boards and block shots. He shouldn't worry about his touches on offense bc quite frankly, he wasn't very good in the post last year.
Im not trying to sit here and say Kobe had no part of Dwight departure. Obviously their games didn't mesh well and probably their personalities as well. I am trying to say it was a 2 way street, and a lot of Dwight's shortcomings in LA had to do with him as well.
