1st things 1st, amnesty Kobe like right now. Him being amnestied puts the Lakers a good 10 million under the salary cap. Now you may be thinking, the Lakers will never betray Kobe and amnesty him, sometimes loyalty is bigger than money but here's the good part... Amnestying Kobe gives them more than enough money to sign the once 2nd best center in the NBA Bynum.
Ok, now here's where it gets interesting. Lakers don't necessarily need to tank the 2013 season. 1st of all they have to much pride to do that. They should just play it out and scope out 2 key players, Pau Gasol to see if he's still relevent and Ryan Kelly to see if they can bring anything to the table come 2014.
Ok, the 2013 -2014 season is over and it is now the offseason. Lakers and Nash agree to a buyout or use the stretch provision so the only contract on the Laker's book is Bynum. They will have more than 50 million dollars in cap space for the Lakers to go shopping.
Here's the fun part:
Resign Kobe for a 8 million a year
Sign Paul George who is going to be taking over once Kobe leaves for 12 million a year
Try to sign John Wall but I'm not sure how that will work out. The Wizards can offer him more money.
Sign
-Jaren Sullinger
-Resign Jordan Hill
- Sign Shannon Brown
- Sign Ramon Sessions
-Resign Pau Gasol IF the price is right
-Sign Jimmer Fredette
-Sign Eric Bledsoe and Steve Blake(or either one)
-Sign Chandler Parsons
An idea of what the 2014 Lakers could look like if they do this-
PG. Ramon Sessions/Eric Bledsoe(or Steve Blake)
SG. Kobe/ Shannon Brown/Jimmer Fredette
SF. Paul George/ Chandler Parsons
PF. Gasol/ Jared Sullinger
C. Bynum/ Jordan Hill
All these signings should give them some cap space to work around for a few new players and they still have their mid level exception.
