i could see them letting teague go
some big reporter (maybe stein, im not certain) said that teague was getting very frustrated by the lack of negotiations he was having with the hawks
and now they have another small scoring guard
they might just run with ellis and lou as their starting guards.

I would say that maybe its only a 1 or 2 year contract, but either way the Hawks aren't getting a top pick next year.

If we can sign Bynum, then this FA season is ok.
Otherwise, this is pretty much a disaster.
With Teague, Williams, Jenkins, Ellis, Schroeder, we sure are short in the backcourt.
And we lost our two best shot blockers in Smith and Pachulia.

Didn't see anything official on this from any reporter but did read a rumor they're interested at $10 mill a year.

30 wins out of this bunch and Ferry might get canned.
We have no shot blocking, no inside defense, no size in the backcourt.

Al is still a better shot blocker than Al, but... It's not like the difference is extreme.

Why are the Hawks ALWAYS doing this? Committing to mediocrity over and over again. They just have no concept of how to win.

yeah you need to. no player really stands out. horford is really solid and you got good shooters. either way they are better than last year if you ask me. they are much weaker defensively but get a huge boost offensively with ellis and korver.

A lot of low-attendance/low-revenue teams do this because a compettive team each night keeps people watching and showing up in some capacity. A lot of the owners of these teams dont want to lose revenue money for the next 1-2 years just to gamble on the possibility of getting a top prospect. It actually is kind of a risky proposition when you think about it, it does t necessarily make good business sense.

While this may eventually happen (there is interest from the Hawks).
No credible source has reported the deal. All has been said that they are discussing a deal. Plus, they can't sign the deal until July 10th. That's just someone jumping the gun in hopes of being the first one breaking the news...

Not a bad starting lineup for Atlanta, plenty of offense and two big guys who can bang down low and give Miami troubles.
Teague, Korver, Millsap, Horford, Ellis not bad :pimp:

Actually this is a team that would win 30 games.
If the lineup were Ellis-Korver-Smith-Millsap-Horford, then that would be a 50 win team.

They got better interms of backcourt offensive output but Smith was a very good defender. Millsap can more then makeup for Smith's offense though.

Atlanta will have the shortest starting lineup in the NBA. Seriously this signing makes no fvcking sense. And what has Al Horford ever done to deserve this treatment?

It makes sense if the Hawks are going to let Teague go and have Ellis play point guard.
Otherwise, Ellis, Teague, Jenkins, Williams in the backcourt - real short.
Why draft Jenkins and then not play him on his rookie contract and spend money on a big? :wtf: Unless we are trading Jenkins away to get a big - who knows what Ferry is doing.

God why would they let Teague go? Especially for Ellis who isn't a point guard in any way shape or form. Went from dreams of Chris Paul, Dwight and Smith to Ellis, Milsap and Korver :biggums:

The Hawks spent 8.5 million on Korver and Carroll - just terrible.
Would have been better to re-sign Josh and then sign Al Jefferson to a 3 years, 45 million contract, and then re-sign Teague.

We now have multiple ways of scoring. We have shooters, slashers, post scorers, penetrators on multiple levels. If we can steal a healthy Bynum Miami is in trouble.

Are they, though? I mean, on paper, sure. But I'm not sure how any of these pieces really fit together. It seems like they're just throwing out contract offers to anyone who'll bite since they were late to the Al Jefferson party.

You will get butt****ed on the defensive end and rebounding. You have overlapping skill sets with 3 players who need the ball to create. If Bowl a Bynum signs then the team will be looking better, but his health is in serious question.

We lost our best interior paint defender in Pachulia.
We lost the best help defender in the league in Smith.
Now our backcourt is going to be made up of a bunch of smurfs - Teague, Williams, Ellis, Jenkins. Cunningham has size but is a rookie; Korver is an adequate defender; Stevenson has lost his foot speed.
The problem with Bynum is that we are running out of salary cap. If we sign Ellis, then the only way to get Bynum is through a sign and trade of probably Teague and someone else up to Philadelphia. We can't sign him outright.
Maybe Teague at 2 years, 16 million (8 million per year) plus Jenkins for Bynum (1 year 13 million).

It's already been mentioned once, but you guys do realize this hasn't actually happened yet, right? Not even a verbal agreement or anything, right now it's gotten as far as the Hawks have strong interest in Ellis. It'll probably end up happening, but so far it hasn't.

Poor Horford, another season as a center.
Anyway if they ll keep Teague they are a pretty good team, but not enough for a strong push in the POs.
They should target Asik, that would make them become a serious threat in the POs.
