If Lakers get some depth and a couple more young athletic players, they will contend with a championship with Kaman.
The reason is if you put any decent center with Kobe, they will contend or win a championship. This is one of the most underrated thing about Kobe, he has the ability to win with any serviceable center.

Not saying Kaman is some stud but I expect Kobe haters will say Kaman is a dominant player. :oldlol:
That's just the truth. Kobe with a serviceable center equals championship.
Look what he did with Shaq, Pau and Bynum. These 3 never amounted to anything without Kobe.

That's because he never played with Kobe.
If any serviceable center wants to win they need Kobe. We have seen what Kobe can do with a decent front court.
It's automatic with Kobe.

Solid pickup. A crafty center with a a decent offensive game. Not winning any titles but he will help the team. They basically just need to get through this year and he is going to get them a few more W's.

Always been curious why the Lakers don't put a defensive team around Kobe and let him shoot all he wants... it seems like they always try to surround him with offensive minded players.
and Good sign, he and Gasol fit each other good.

Please tell he's going to be a backup. Surely the Lakers won't put Pau back at PF. Surely they'll have realized by now that two slow 7-footers together doesn't work.

^Marko Jaric sighting!
I'll preface my criticism with saying I totally understand not wanting to give up a long term contract to someone now that Dwight's departure has rendered us all-in customers of the upcoming free agent/draft class rather than realistic contenders this year. One year deal, doesn't do any harm, I get that.
What the f*ck are we thinking? Chris Kaman? Maybe the player who best encapsulates our problems the last couple years. Let's sign another slow (I think he's the worst athlete in the league, agreed?), old, oft-injured guy who only plays on one side of the ball. I understand we're not a team that builds through the draft but we have to have some sense of the future at some point here, we have to start looking at veterans on the under side of 30. Are we supposed to think because Kaman is a decent scorer that this somehow fits D'antoni? Can't we try the one year offer to Mo Speights, Hansborough (who's probably looking for more than a one year deal, I'm just throwing out names here), Dejuan Blair before we sign on another geriatric player? Someone who maybe we decide we want to keep beyond this year? We are the florida of the NBA right now. Not only do we get somebody who's a known quantity, they're clearly on the decline if not already washed up. Are we not going to play Pau at center? Are we really rolling out a starting lineup of Steve Nash (will be 40 mid-season), Kobe (35, coming off major injury), Ron (34, I simply can't believe we aren't going to amnesty him, I can't believe we're really riding him into this season), Pau (a lumbering 33), and Caveman's ass? Come on. It's a lost season, I know it, you know it, they know it, but can we just show some sign of foresight here? Why would anyone want to come play for us next year?

Kaman, who has good mid-range shot, will play next to @paugasol as Lakers stick with slow-paced ball that worked late last season.
From Kevin Ding.
Absolutely retarded.
Two slow 7-footers DOESN"T work. It failed with Bynum and it failed with Diwght.

I wanted him back on the Clippers pretty badly, though the'd be a perfect backup C. Expecting 14/8 from him
