View Full Version : Discussion about Cavs' front office

24 million for Andrew Bynum. :oldlol: The over/under on how many games he plays for them over the next 2 years is 43. Have fun with that. Jareet Jack 25 million? :facepalm
Does this team actually think they can compete with MIA/NYK/Brooklyn/IND/CHI? :oldlol:
Then we look at them taking a chubby undersized PF #1 overall who wasn't even projected to go top 5. Holy ****ing shit.
Cleveland management was ultimately what made LeBron leave them(thanks for that) since year after year they couldn't get a 2nd all-star caliber player despite having cap room on multiple occasions/letting Boozer leave when they let him opt out and going for the mediocre fixes like signing 50 year old Shaq and Ben Wallace.
It is no surprise that since LeBron left Cleveland this is their records.
2011: 19-63
2012: 21-45
2013: 24-58
The irrelevancy speaks for itself.
And even with all those lottery picks they still have a shitty team. I hope Cleveland is looking forward to finishing 8th in the standings and getting raped in the first round every year. :oldlol:

Only $6 million is guaranteed, if gets injured or doesn't hit certain benchmarks that's all he gets and the Cavs wouldn't pick up a second year.
Steal IMO considering the potential.

wrong guy.
As for Dwight to the Rockets, the real upgrade will be what they can get for Asik. Asik -> Howard isn't that big of a difference if Howard doesn't get the spacing he had in Orlando to operate in the post.
Cleveland front office is terrible regardless. Even if they pay him 6 million its 6 million too much.

Clever. You try and mask your true intentions by disparaging the Cleveland front office because of the Bynum signing.
And get outta here with that "thanks for that" bullshit. You're not a Heat fan. You're a poster who has a non-stop boner for LeBron. Once he retires or leaves Miami, you won't give two shits about the Heat.

No contract for CURRENT ANDREW BYNUM is "perfect". His knees are debilitating and he is done. He is Oden territory. I'd give him the minumum or a million or two TOPS if I'm a contender so I can give him some minutes in the playoffs(wouldn't play him at all during the season). How is the front office different?
Because a different peon has the official title of "general manager"? Chris Grant was under Danny Ferry since 2005 and the team still lives and dies by what Dan Gilbert says.

You're f***ing clueless. Cleveland had a bunch of cap-room to work with and took a chance on center who can be the best in the NBA if healthy, by only guaranteeing him $6M over two years. If he gets the full $24M, then he's staying healthy and playing up to his abilities, which means Cleveland just signed arguably the best center in basketball for $12M/year, which is a friggin' steal.

Worst case scenario, maybe this does accomplish nothing. Here's the part you don't seem to be grasping... it also hinders nothing. There is zero risk for the Cavs in this deal.
Also, you brought up Mo Williams earlier. Do you even realize that the previous front office brought him in (Danny Ferry) and the current front office traded him for the pick that became Kyrie Irving? Were you aware of that?

So your going to tell me the Cleveland FO is actually competant?
Cleveland: 7 years with LeBron
1 Finals
0 Titles
Miami: 3 years with LeBron
3 Finals
2 Titles
When you got LeBron on your team you have an advantage over every single other team in the league. No other team has a player as good as you do. The next part is the easy part, putting some complimentary players around him that arn't total scrubs. Apparantly Cleveland couldn't do this though. With a 7 year window.... :facepalm
This team has had 3 #1 overall picks in the last ten years(30%!!!!) and they still have nothing to show for it. They have been given every tool to succeed, yet they are still and will remain irrelevant.

its a different front office you retard. the FO before ferry screwed us pretty bad, and ferry isn't a really good GM.
Grant has made nothing but great decision.
and honestly, we really couldnt sign anyone to help lebron. it hard enough to get people to come to cleveland. but when all the free agent we want to sign ask lebron if he will stay and he refuses to answer then it kind of stops us from signing anyone.
if he had said he was gonna stay we would have had no problem signing anyone to cleveland.

Out of all the bigmen they would've sign this is the most perfect contract. Basically they're saying
"You want money? Don't get injuried and play the damn game. If you don't we won't bring you back on and you'll basically get a MLE and we'll part ways."

It's funny that posters say that teams should be more reasonable in handing out contracts and the Cavs did handed out a smart contract. If more front offices had been a little smarter there never would have been a lockout.

Don't forget Sergey Karasev... Largely thought to be the best pure shooter in the draft and the Cavs thought they were going to have to trade back up into the lottery to get him. He fell to them at 19.
From what I've heard, they're really excited about his potential. Only 19, too.

If Bynum stays healthy the Cavs went completely berserk in the offseason props to them. They got good depth at every position.
@RedBlackattack
Do you see CJ Miles getting playing time or being moved? Cause imo he's better than just rotting on the bench if they choose not to play him that much cause of Waiters.

Do you see CJ Miles getting playing time or being moved? Cause imo he's better than just rotting on the bench if they choose not to play him that much cause of Waiters.
The Cavs definitely need another guard. Right now, the only three that are officially on the roster are Kyrie, Dion and Jack. Karasev can play the 2, but it is going to take time for him to get serious minutes.
So, CJ would make sense if they are going to exercise his option. Personally, I think they do bring him back as the backup 2 with Jack as the backup point. Hard to say right now. There are a couple of players whose future seem in limbo right now with the Cavs... CJ Miles and Alonzo Gee.
I'm starting to think both guys will be back, but who knows.
Cavs also drafted Carrick Felix early in the 2nd round. He's a guard who will be playing in Summer League in a few days. Maybe they're waiting to evaluate him a little bit before making a move? :confusedshrug:
At this point, I'd like to see CJ back.

You should definately be keeping Gee, Miles if you can as well. Gee gives you tough defense and SF is the Cavs weakest position in my opinion

Yeah, well, the only way Gee is not brought back is if they bring someone else in to play the position. AK47 has been mentioned as a possibility, though I think it's a stretch. That's really the only way I can see Gee being moved.
Gee is a good defender, good athlete... Streaky jumpshooter, below average playmaker. Fact is, though, Cavs have enough offense at this point. I'd think he'd be the kind of player Brown would appreciate. Right now, I'm assuming both guys will be back until I hear otherwise.

If Andrew bynum actually plays in a couple of games i'll be pleased. Don't get me wrong i think this was a good calculated risk to take but this dude's knees are done barring any sort of new medical breakthrough involving the regrowth of knee cartilage.
It's a bittersweet signing. I know that a technique involving stem cells has been developed and i believe is currently in clinical trials.

people throwing around 6 mil guaranteed ...in about a week, its gonna be 12...
only reason they are paying him while being kept away is so that they dont default on the contract, where he would get waived for not getting paid...so cavs plan on keeping him so make that number 12 guaranteed...
