He was arguably the best player on the team(uninjured). Kobe has been getting what he wants for years...
Kobe has done the same thing in the past, Dwight had the leverage to ask since he was supposed to be the franchise player into the future and wasn't happy with the current team makeup and threatening to leave if things didnt change.
When it comes to being the most important player on the team, they can ask for what they want.
Deron, Lebron, Kobe, have all done it before.

Dwight wanted to amnesty Kobe and trade Nash and Pau? When did Dwight become GM of the Lakers?
Levity
07-11-2013, 01:52 AM
haha dwights quite the character.. im glad the lakers FO didnt follow through.
i honestly dont think Dwight knows what he really wants. before the trade to the lakers, dwight was quoted saying hed love to play with steve nash, seeing as hes one of the best pick and roll pgs in the league and could get him the ball in the perfect spots. Nash was recently quoted saying that dwight did not want to play high pick and rolls in the lakers offense and refused to do so in practice. (in my honest opinion, it was because he just couldnt. terrible hands and was miserable at rolling off screens hard.)
hopefully everything works out for dwight in HOU. The lakers will be fine in the long run.

not true....lakers fans are pissed because this mutha fcuka didnt wanted to play P&R at all with NASH..i mean NASH the best P&R pg.....
the effort was not there at all...he looked disinterested and wanted to get out of town....

Well they should have amnestied Kobe. It was a poor decision on the part of the Lakers to side with Kobe over Dwight. I could understand it back when Kobe was in his prime to chose him over Shaq. But Kobe is pretty much done and clown or not LA needed Howard.

you are so angry right now. How is Howard harden's bitch? Season hasn't even begun yet.
May be effort wasn't there because nash is really old and kobe clearly wants everyone on the team to know that he is the best player on the team. even though i think kobe is way better than howard, he shouldn't remind him of that every game. You could see it in his body language in every game that he was showing dwight that he is way better than him. Just because Jordan won while being an asshole doesn't mean that you have to be one. Jordan was a better player than Kobe and may be he just got lucky that his team mates understood the problems of playing with jordan but saw the benefits which were greater. More player's have won rings by being good team mates .
Do you think Miami would have won if LeBron kept reminding wade that he is the best player in the league or if wade kept reminding LeBron that he cost wade 2011 FMVP?

LMAO at a borderline All-Star trying to get a Legend off the team. Kobe carries LA to the playoffs, literally carrying them so much so that he tore his achilles. Then Dwight gets his chance at being "the face of the franchise" in the playoffs and even says that they have a chance to win it all. Leading LA to being swept with every game being a blowout loss, producing records of the largest playoff home loss in franchise history and the lowest postseason ppg in franchise history.

When you playing with Kobe you got to understand you are going to get no credit, no matter how good you play.
The media and all his stans will ride his dick and give him credit for YOUR hard work. YOUR rebounding efforts and dominant defensive displays. The only guys that don't have a problem with this are guys like Gasol or Nash(sucks) who could give two shits about that.
Dwight Howard was just going to be a puching bag for Kobe stans, even if he carried Kobe to championships like Gasol did. Look how they treat him.
bdreason
07-11-2013, 02:28 AM
Nash/Kobe/Pau combo isn't going anywhere. These 3 guys alone take up the entire salary cap, and are all at the tail-end of their careers.
If the Lakers were serious about winning another title, they would have cleaned house and began to build around Dwight. They had no problem kicking Shaq to the curb, who won a title two years later with a different team... not sure why they are so scared of doing the same to Kobe/Pau.

Lin ran MDA's system well in New York and he would have fit in well with Gasol and Kaman and get to the rim, which Nash can't do anymore.

Been tough for you guys the last 12 or so months, I'd never thought I would say Laker fans would face one thing after another fustration for an extended period before.
What used to be the prestige and history of being a "Laker" of the past and being run by the most successful owner ever in Jerry Buss, is now looking more like an unstable and unknown franchise run by Jim who players don't have the same kind of respect for, making one blunder after another.
Now, I know alot of you guys say that you will turn it all around and still be the same dominating franchise, but how can you be so sure with Jim running the show? And things like losing Howard and not hiring Phil happening?
I don't know, Jim seems to be a big problem there...

In 2004, Kobe demanded the Lakers get rid of Shaq or he wasn't resigning.
Dr Buss traded Shaq, and then Kobe re-signed the very next day after Shaq was traded.
If Dr Buss was alive, he would have amnestied Kobe, re-signed Dwight (the future), and built around him.
Instead, the Lakers are stuck with an injured 35 year old egomaniac and no future.

If you wanted to be "the man", why not stay in ORL?
If you want "to win", why don't you wanna play with one of the best players in the league and a guy who has already won it all 5 times?
If you want Kobe to "pass the torch", why are you mocking him behind his back and talking trash to teammates about him? Why are you going through so many stretches of complete disinterest? Why are you complaining about touches even though you're getting more post-up touches than any player in the league other than Al Jefferson? Why are you refusing to run the P&R? You really think Kobe is going to want to hand the torch to somebody like this?

Shaq was traded when he was a 3x Finals MVP because Kobe threatened to leave LA if they didn't get rid of Shaq.
Dr. Buss sided with the younger Kobe and traded Shaq, and kept his future player.
Now, the Lakers made a huge mistake. They sided with the older washed up injured 35 yr old player, and let their younger star, their future walk away.
There was actually a chance for Chris Paul to go to the Lakers if Dwight was there and Kobe was gone.
Now the Lakers have no future. And Kobe wants the max contract again.

The Lakers should have released Bryant under the amnesty. It might have been good for the league. It would have perhaps solidified the notion from here on out that players should be primarily concerned about themselves and their future while not forgetting to approach the NBA as a business. I think it would have also instantly countered the logic of the criticisms and negative sentiments that are expressed when players demand to be traded. Such an amnesty would have been the ultimate business over sentiment move.
As for how it would work out with the Lakers... their viewership and earnings would take a major hit.

I feel sorry for Kobe stans so blinded by their loyalty to their hero that they refuse to accept that he basically ruined their future. Dwight is a rare talent entering the prime years of his career. He is a game changer defensively this league hasn't seen in years.
Kobe on the other hand is an aging volume shooter who doesn't quite impact the game the way a true superstar does (not anymore at least). We'll see who was more important when the Rockets meet the Heat in the Finals and the Lakers are headed for the lottery led by Kobe.

I don't agree about the business thing - loyalty is big for me in sports but forgetting that.
The lack of professionalism in the NBA completely undermines this. When last have we seen a player denied a trade play a season quietly and professionally?. Contracts mean far too little to approach the NBA like a conventional business.
On Howard specifically. He might be the stupidest star I've ever seen. Forget not meriting any of his demands and not proving a thing, but how do you ask them to trade Nash who is literally the best point guard in the league for you. Perhaps because he gave you some free throw advice?

Looking at the link, I saw Chris Broussard reporting and I was like .... ok most of this is probably not true.
I don't think I've ever heard of a player with this much of an overinflated view of himself. He's not nearly as good of a player as he thinks, and clearly not close to players like Kareem, Hakeem, Shaq, or Duncan. He's not even an entertaining player, who's game is actually exciting to watch like someone like Lebron, Kobe, Rose, Westbrook, Griffin, etc. His personality sucks, and is not funny at all like a Barkley or Shaq, yet he thinks he would do good in movies. Shit, he even thinks he's a great religious person, when he's clearly not. Its amazing he actually had the gaul to make these requests. There's maybe 10-15 players in history that would have the right to do this, even if it is an asshole thing to do, and at least 50 players that would have the right to do this before Howard ever did.

In his first public comments since Howard's departure, Bryant said Wednesday that he wasn't going to "waste my time trying to figure out what happened" and that he was "happy" for Howard, who "made the decision he feels is best for him."He pretty much said I am not getting into arguments in the media with this whiny ass b1tch:roll:
"I think everybody is cut differently," Bryant said. "[Howard] has his way of leading that he feels like would be most effective and would work for him, and obviously the way we've gone about it with this organization and the leaders that we've had -- myself, Magic [Johnson] and Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar] -- we've done it a different way."

Actually, Bryant might be one of those players, though I believe there have been a few prior and since. In 2007, he made noise and demanded to be traded, that was denied and blew over, and then he began that season with no noise and seemed to play pretty hard from the onset.
Now to be clear, I don't necessarily believe that getting rid of Bryant would have been the best decision for that club, but I think it would have been an eye opener for the league in reminding players that teams are likely to discard them when they seem to be no longer useful. With the new CBA, I think it's vital that players remember they aren't indispensable.

Christ you're a clown.
And if this story IS true as far as Howard goes why is it okay?
