View Full Version : Hakeem Olajuwon considering comeback?

I heard on LA Sports Radio that the Lakers would consider giving Olajuwon a 1 year, vets minimum deal if he would return. It would likely be a deal where Hakeem plays every fourth game or so for fifteen minutes.

Thoughts?

I really don't want to open that door. If Hakeem comes back, does Chuck come back too? Stockton and Malone re-sign with Utah and play twice a week?

And, heaven forbid... Michael Jordan?

It was bad enough, for me, when Shaq was skipping out on back-to-backs. if you can't play in the NBA you can't play in the NBA. Move on I say.

You are probably just making this up but,
Did you see his last year with Raptors?
He's done.

50 year old Hakeem > Howard.

At least for the 10 minutes he would last on the court.

He's been training ever since he retired for the NBA for this opportunity, at least that's what his wife had been saying for a while around 2007 that Hakeem thought he still had what it takes.

Have you seen his training videos with Dwight and LeBron? He takes those guys to school, he can still give you 15 minutes of high level basketball. No doubt about it.

He's also undergone serious knee strengthening, so I doubt his physical acumen will let him down in his prognostication.

Hakeem was the best center to play the game, such a beautiful player. He made me cry in '94, but I was in awe of his play.

I remember one time on NBAtv (Sorry I have not been able to find a link to anything) Horry was talking about the 95 WCF game in which Hakeem dominated MVP David Robinson. He said that during the pre game MVP ceremony Hakeem was super pissed and that the normally reserved and devout Muslim said something to this effect:

"**** that, that trophy is mine!"

Prop up his corpse under the basket, and the majority of the current centers in the NBA wouldn't be capable of scoring on him.

He was embarrassing himself in 2002 when he played for the Raptors and next season he'll have become 12 years older. Anyone who expects anything better than scrub numbers and impact at this age is delusional.

I have pointed out here in numerous threads that Hakeem lives in Jordan and has for many years. Every time I do, bunches of people here attack me and call me a liar and a troll.

They go on and on about "Hakeem lives in Houston".

This forum is hopeless.

Might as well bring back Magic, Kareem & Jerry West for Lakers. Heck, bring back Bill Russell and Bill Walton too for the Celtics. Russell at 80 will be better than half of the current bigmen in NBA.

He has a ranch here but he resides in Jordan. The king of Jordan himself donated a massive amount of cash to Hakkems charities in that part of the world. His wife is from Jordan as well.

Guarantee he'd still foul out against Miami

"Battier drives to the basket...he's fouled by Wilt! Shane Battier hits the floor hard and Wilt is out of the game, they're calling it a flagrant 2!"

Hakeem's last year in the NBA, with the Raptors:

7 ppg, 6 rpg on 46 FG% :lol (22.6 mpg)

IN 2002!

ELEVEN
YEARS
AGO

What do you think he would do now?

2 ppg, 1 rpg on 40 FG% (13 mpg)

?
