The adidas Crazyquicks are a top 5 shoe this year, and yes, they're very light. Try them out.

I usually like the aesthetics of all adidas basketball shoes, but these are some of the most hideous I've ever seen.

For all I know, they are top-tier in terms of performance, but the sole looks odd with how bulky and wide it is. I guess it works in terms of its ankle support though.

Try some Ektios

Very comfortable and I haven't had any problems

lower tier nikes always work for me. Nike Lunar HyperGamer Low is my current shoe

Why do people purchase new model nikes or whatever? It's not like shoes have really improved over the last 5 years...

They have though.

In a number of ways.

Lighter, more breathable, better traction, more responsive, sturdier etc etc

KD V's were the first shoe to have an 8mm zoom air unit when before we only had 6. LeBron X's also had an integrated zoom air unit molded with the max air unit in the heel. Kobe 8s were far more breathable than the Kobe 7s.

Shoes get better every year

I mean all those specifics sound great and all, but how much of a difference does that really make?

I myself rarely play anymore so i'm usually rocking casuals or avia running shoes... i've been out of the loo since kobe was with adidas

True. I work for a sneaker retailer so I know a lot about the technical aspects of shoes. But in the end, its really up to whats most comfortable for you. And these technical specifics aren't really making an impact on your game, outside of comfort.

What does a 8mm zoom air unit do for you compared to a 4mm zoom? Prob not much. A shoe isn't going to make you run faster jump higher. But you can feel the difference between an 8mm zoom air unit compared to a 4mm.

And you can feel the difference between a shoe with a max air unit compared to a shoe that has no air unit and uses lunarlon foam instead.

Companies just put out a new shoe, make it seem great, that way they can get you to buy it. A lot of times they are improved, but not significantly enough to make me want to buy them if I already have a decent pair of hoop shoes.

When it comes to running shoes, there are MAJOR differences in a quality shoe vs a poor shoe, and your body can feel the difference and bad shoes can hurt your whole body

If they like Nikes, what else are they going to buy? Used models of older shoes? Deadstocked shoes from years ago that are starting to have sole separation?

Technology in shoes continues to improve. Hyperfuse and Flywire are two specific names when it comes to the increased sturdiness KNOW1EDGE mentioned. They are extremely light and keep the ankles in place within the shoe much better than older models. It doesn't just "sound great and all", it actually has increased performance value and protection you can feel.

I prefer low-tops, and currently use both the Kobe VI's and CP3 VI's. My next shoe will probably be the KD VI's.

I'd say if there are still Kobe VI's available somewhere for a reduced price, they are great value for the money. Doesn't get much better in terms of fit and comfort imo. They aren't that great for outdoor play though, lose traction rather quickly.

I like my shoes lightweight, and really liked last years Adizero stuff, the Derrick Rose shoe.

Of course I eventually blew out my achilles while playing with it on, but to be fair the shoe really had nothing to do with it.

I second this about Adidas. As a long time Jordan guy I've found the adizero line to be the best in terms of quality/weight vs price. Probably the best shoe that I've ever played in. But my input might be skewed in the fact that playing in retroes for so long I never experienced the evolution of shoe technology. Even the low end adizeros to me outperform any other brand

Which retroes did you play in? The 6's, 7's and 8's all have cardboard underneath the insole separating it from the air unit.

I agree. I have a pair a low Rose 2.5s and they are amazing. Slim along the middle of the foot but wide around the toe. Probably the best fitting pair of shoes I have ever had. I'll prob get a pair of 3.5s after his new pair are released and prices drop.

I really prefer low tops now. I never wore them until recently but I love the freedom of motion they give. I've never had anything more than minor ankle sprains tho so I don't worry much about support.

I got a pair of Black/Blue Adidas T-Macs a couple weeks ago at FinishLine. $65. Nobody was happier that day than I.

My advice would be to get those classics.

They take forever to break in, though. And they're kinda heavy.

I didn't really pick up my first pair of J's until the XV first dropped. But they weren't even my first pair of J's. My very first pair of J's were the Jordan Lite OG's
http://www.kicks-box.com/img/kicks/275/3926/1-air-jordan-jordan-lite-1999-maguy-kicks-box.jpg

Back then it was first all about Reebok. Being in Philly you had to have the Questions and then follow with all the Answers. Also this is when And 1 became big and we had a local kid Aaron Owens representin', so we all rocked the Tai Chis. I also had a huge collection of slip ons from that line. When I started getting into J's on the regular the pairs I rocked on the court were:

III's (my fave by far)
XI (Cool Greys and Fire Red lows)
Pure
http://krossovki.net/images/stories/cross/jordans/other/Jordan_Brand_Bballer_Pure.jpg
XVIII
XIII

After the XVI I never got into any newer models because I was hooked on the retros.
So it's been a long time since I've experienced new kicks. Up until I got my Derrick rose adizero 2 I wore either my XIII lows or my retro Questions

I respect how you are able to treat these shoes the way they are intended to be treated, as shoes. Whenever I get my hands on a III or XI, I treat them with extreme care and wear them no more than twice a week. And, neither would ever see a basketball court. They each have features about them that deserve attention if you're like me and want to keep them looking new for as long as possible (midsole paint cracking on the III and icy sole yellowing on the XI).

I remember you said you sold some Space Jam XI's to a hipster kid on a skateboard. How much did you get for them and what was the condition of the icy soles?

Ice was yellowed despite the fact I never took them out the box. It is virtually impossible to avoid. But kid took them.

Were they wrapped with the paper the whole time in the box? Some theorize the paper makes them yellow faster than normal.

DJ Greg Street has a pair of OG 6's that are still icy. Craziness.

$280 is a great deal for you though. I definitely wouldn't pay that price for yellow soles, something I'm a stickler about. Others don't mind it, but the shoe is done for me at the point it's completely pissed out.

They were in it's original packaging. In fact the kid pulled it out the box the first time since I had bought them (other than when I had pulled them out to post pics.

I have VI's that still have the ice clear as vodka. I think the use a different compound for those one.
I've seen fake XI's made with a similar compound which didn't yellow

The next Space Jam's that come out will probably have that blue-tinted ice on them which will go well with the blue jumpman. The blue tint is supposed to yellow a lot slower, and I've heard it's best to remove the paper and store the shoes in open ziploc bags inside the box to preserve them longer if you're thinking about having them deadstock.

Nice. Retro VI's or OG's? I want to get some Black Infrared's next year, but I hate that Jordan is raising the price to $170. Turns out the rumors were true.

I couldn't imagine playing basketball in a pair of Jordans. It's amazing MJ did that his whole career.

If you have them you should wear them... any time you're in shorts or jeans is a good time to wear your Jordans. But to ball in? If I had a pair of IIIs or VIs?... (the two best ones I never did get) No way. I'd no more ball in those than I would inside the Sistine Chapel.

Why? Too heavy? They never did feel like great performance shoes to me even back in the OG higher quality days. What amazes me is how well he moved in them. But, I'm sure the ones custom-made for him on the court were souped-up somehow.

Especially these days. The paint jobs on those things are way too delicate.

Oh no; the performance on most Jordans (so I've heard) was good for its era.

But you don't buy a Ferrari to race in; you buy a Ferrari to drive 2 miles an hour in. You find some hatchback and throw in a couple turbos if you want to race.

I've balled in XVIIIs and XI and XIIIs and XIVs. Performance was awesome for all four. The XIVs are a really underrated shoe.
