So, not much of a story, there. What should be a story is Indiana Pacers president Larry Bird shooting basketballs. Because nothing is better than watching Larry Bird shoot a basketball. From Nima Zarrabi at SLAM Online:

SLAM: I believe you had talked about seeing Larry shoot in the gym.

PG: He picked a ball up that had rolled over. He rolled up his sleeves and made about 15 in a row and just walked out like nothing just happened. It was the craziest thing I

There was also a Story Told by Reggie Miller who talked about Bird shooting around and everyone on the team though Larry was left handed, cause he kept shooting with his off hand and making everything.

Fact. I know so many stories about it, and I dont think anyone else is even close. Off the charts BBIQ, eidetic memory and real badass attitude made him one of the kind.

A warmed up Kobe, in work out clothes, while being an active NBA player, with 5 minutes of repeated attempts, made 11 in a row in his best streak of that clip. A non-warmed up Bird, in non-workout clothes that require the sleeves being rolled up on the spot, while being retired for 20+ years, presumably went a perfect 15 for 15 and walked off like a badass. Yet, you laugh it off like it is nothing. If this story was about Kobe, you would have creamed your pants. You sir, are a joke.

You're pretty much the fool here. You act like a 56 year old can't do that when his entire life was dedicated to shooting a ball. The man probably shot a million shots.

For all we know he still shoots in his driveway.

Yes, that GOAT SF Defense!

No. The small advantage Bird has on offense over LeBron is negated by everything LeBron does on the defensive end and his ability to play almost every position.

Dude picks up the ball in his business clothes and hits these shots with no warm up. Then walks off bc he is bored of making shots. If it were that easy to hit 15 jumpers in a row with no warm up then the 3 point contest would have much higher scores.

He's just being humble in his old age or he doesn't realize how weak this era is since he's not actively playing.

Bird's impact on team bball: +100

One day, in a quiet and near-empty Barcelona gym, Bird and Mullin got into a shooting contest: man on man, match the other guy's shot or you owe him a hundred bucks. Stays even if both guys make it.

"It was just basic shots - jumpers, bank shots, not like the McDonald's commercial (laughter)," Mullin said. "I got off nice. After a while I had him by ... quite a bit."

Like, how much - a grand?

"More than that. I think I was up like 20 shots. So we're talkin' back and forth (Bird was a legendary trash talker), and he starts coming back. I'm thinking, we could go another 30 minutes. Somebody's gonna win big here.

"Finally, he gets it back to zero," Mullin said, "and he goes, 'I'm out.' Just cut off the game right there."

What, he didn't want to take you down?

"Nope. Says to me, 'I ain't never lost, and I ain't ... now.' "

Years later, when Mullin joined the Pacers, for whom Bird was an executive, he tried repeatedly to get a rematch. No dice, Bird said. That says a lot about pride, about reputation, and about two of the greatest pure shooters who ever lived.

It's not about just hitting an open jumper though. Dude hit 15 IN A ROW!! at 50+ yrs old, bad back, which is probably worse at his current age, in business clothes, and probably not even counting the shots in his head, just launching em.

This current generation of fans have truly forgotten how to enjoy any basketball related story that's not sucking off their favorite player, more so than any other era of fans that I've ever witnessed.

I'm not saying that it's not impressive.

If this is the greatest shooter that ever lived, it doesn't surprise me that he can hit 15 in a row. Is it impressive, yes, for a normal player. It's not impressive for an all time great.

I already posted a video of an all time great, Kobe Bryant, and he's nailing the shots like nothing. This is after practice too, when he's tired and have no legs. Bird was fresh and don't give that crap like he's in business attire. We don't know what he wore.

Bird on his 56 year old legs and destroyed back was "fresh"?

:oldlol: god how unimpressive of Larry to do that "fresh" unlike the mighty Kobe Bryant who is still an active well-conditioned athlete in the NBA that drained shots after he warmed up in practice.

I used to be a substitute teacher and I'd sometimes shoot around in my work clothes when i got chances. Shooting jumpers while wearing a dress shirt and loafers is hard no matter who you are. If you have wide shoulders those kind of shirts restrict your range of motion.
