Many of these "guys in their 20's" have done a ton of RESEARCH to back up their opinions.

I didn't see Babe Ruth play, and if I told the young fans here that I honestly believe the rotund, chicken-legged Ruth would be a great player today, I would probably be labeled a senile codger in a rest home.

BUT, think about this...

In 1941, and well before integration, Ted Williams hit .406 with 37 HRs. Two years before that, and in his rookie season in 1939, he batted .327 with 31 HRs.

Now, stay with me on this...

In that same 1939 season, Jimmy Foxx batted .360 with 35 HRs. Just the season before, in 1938, Foxx batted .349 with 50 HRs. And in 1932, Foxx batted .364 with 58 HRs.

Hold on...

In that 1932 season, a 37 year old Ruth, who would be washed up three years later, batted .341 with 41 HRs. Of course, just a few years earlier, in 1927, a 32 year old Ruth batted .342 with 60 HRs. And to be honest, that was probably not a peak Ruth, either (his early 1920's were just overwhelming to the league.)

So what you ask?

Remember Williams batting .406 with 37 HRs in 1941, and before integration? Well, in 1957, and ten years after integration, a 38 year old Williams batted .388 with 38 HRs. In fact, in his last season, and at age 41, he hit 29 HRs in only 310 ABs (and hit a homer in hi very last at bat.)

Ok, in that same 1957 season, Hank Aaron would hit 44 HRs. 16 years later, in 1973, an aged Aaron would hit 40 HRs (and in only 392 ABs.) Players like Willie Mays were hitting 51 HRs in 1955, and 52 in 1965. So, as you can already see, the league was really no different in 1957, than it would be in 1973. You can carry that argument with players like George Foster, and then Mike Schmidt, etc, right on to the mid-90's, when the "steroid era" became rampant.

Furthermore, you can use pitching as an example, as well. In 1973 Nolan Ryan struck out 383 batters in 326 innings, and with a ERA of 2.87. In 1991, and at age 44, Ryan struck out 203 batters in 173 innings, and his ERA was 2.91 (in a more hitter friendly season.) BTW, a prime Ryan was clocked at 101 MPH (granted, in the 8th inning in a game in which he had already thrown 162 pitches)...and a 46 year old Ryan, on an injured arm, and on the very last pitch of his career, was clocked at 98 MPH.

So, using the "bridge" theory, a 1927 Ruth would perform very well in 2013.
