I have this game (and the series) on VHS. When you see this play from the normal game angle it's amazing, because he just explodes past the defender and shoots this finger-roll/floater with such soft touch off the glass from basically FLAT to the baseline and it goes in. Amazing play.

Except he didn't.

I've always said that Kobe is the closest to MJ as far as scoring skills set. But he hasn't progressed anything. For progress to occur he would need to do things 'better' or at the very least more consistently, but he does neither. At the most he's equal to MJ in an aspect or two, but that's about it (at most).

To MJ's benefit, he was blessed with superior hands, athleticism and IQ.

MJ was also more fundamentally sound which only made most of his moves appear to be more natural and easier.
