Yeah, yeah weight difference and all. But who do you think wants it worse? Who needs it more? Who's going to be ultra-competitive about it? Can Lebron keep Kobe from driving on him?

If the consensus is MJ beating Lebron, Kobe hands down beats Lebron.

We already seen what happen in the all star game when Kobe put the clamps on Lebron.

We also have to factor in if this is televised or not? If televised, Kobe wins it big.

Weight difference means nothing, anyone telling you otherwise doesn't play one on one in real life.

Kobe's the better individual player, in terms of one on one situations. Clearly. LeBron is good, but not at THAT level.

MJ and Kobe are the best one on one players of all-time, LeBron's dimensions and weapons become more apparent in five on five team scenarios. Much like Magic.

Prime Kobe beats Prime LeBron one on one all day. Sure LeBron would steal some, but that's Kobe's thing. Kobe wins the majority of the match ups. Better individual offensive player when it comes to solo scoring, and better man defender as well.

Kobe, the better one v one player.

LeBron, the better team player.

It's literally that simple.

LeBron has really owned Kobe in head-to-head games, and particularly when they match-up. In most of their games, LeBron switches onto Kobe in the 4th qtr and outside of a couple of instances, has almost always shut him down.

I would pick LeBron in pretty much any 1-on-1 battle. He will always be able to guard you better than the other way around.

Kobe hits the go ahead basket. He covers Lebron and Lebron clanks it. Lakers vs Cavs.

His passing and help defense.

Kobe's skills are better suited to one on one.

LeBron's got size on Kobe, but Kobe's game is designed for 1 on 1 and in his prime he could score at will. Kobe was a good defender in his prime too. He often roams a little too much, but in 1 on 1 that wouldn't be an issue. I'd give it to Kobe 7/10 if they're both in their primes.

Prime Kobe was an exceptional defender. Particularly in 1v1 situations. If the challenge was there, most of the time he would take it. A 1v1 with LeBron James, one of the biggest NBA fantasy matchups...that's a challenge. Kobe would try to lock him up and vice-versa.

So I don't know why you are mentioning a "past-prime" Kobe Bryant tendency.

Kobe is a top 2, GOAT 1v1 Player. His game is tailor made for isolation play. LeBron's most solid attributes are designed specifically for teamplay. LeBron's size is his biggest advantage and if he plays post-up, he could steal a few.

Best out of 10 though....i'm riding with Kobe. No doubt.

Orlando swept Kobe and the Lakers in the regular season, then the Lakers smashed Orlando in the finals. I would have loved to see Lakers vs Cavaliers in the finals. Lebron, multiple times, couldn't make it happen. Kobe in his prime, if you are old enough to remember, was a pretty exceptional player. Clearly, the strong points in his game favor a 1 on 1 situation over Lebron James. 1 vs 1, prime Kobe beats Lebron. 5 Kobes vs 5 Lebrons might be a different story.

" Kyrie’s my boy, but he knows he doesn’t have anything for me. He doesn’t want to see me. But it would be fun. I’ve beaten a lot of guys one-on-one, like Reggie Miller and Grant Hill. I used to play Caron Butler all the time in practice when he was with the Lakers. When I was a rookie I used to get Nick Van Exel and Eddie Jones. They know. They’ll tell you. They used to come at me hard but I wasn’t having that. I love going one-on-one with someone. That’s what I do. I’ve never lost. It’s a whole different game, just to have them right in front of you and be able to do whatever you want. "

Kobe is a 1 on 1 player, Lebron is a system player. It's funny to see retards that boast about Lebron being all about team play now saying in this thread that he is a 1 on 1 king, when in reality that is kind of an oxymoron...

With that aside, I'd say Kobe would punish him

Weight difference means so much especially when its one on one. you ever try and stop someone 40-50 pounds heavier then you from driving then backing you down? its nearly impossible to overcome.

Lebron would would probably win. doesn't mean he's the better offensive player. one vs one is a a lot different then most people think.

Like with Melo, Kobe is better suited for a one on one. LeBron is more of a team player.

CavaliersFTW
07-29-2013, 05:45 PM
This is similar to the Melo thing. Lebron may be the better all around 5 on 5 player but Kobe is a much better 1 on 1 player than Lebron and just like in this recent ASG Kobe would be trying to make a statement to the public as to who the better player is because Kobe's competitive drive is immense. Kobe would put on a clinic if he played Lebron one on one.

That's what I'm thinking. And it would be the same with Jordan vs Lebron. I don't think the weight difference is going to be enough to counter Kobe's arsenal. But more than anything, it's the competitiveness. Kobe (or Mike) would want it too bad.

Yes, true if you have a low center of gravity and the ability to play with your back to the basket. But Lebron struggles with his back to the basket in comparison to most players in his weight class, because he doesn't have a low center of gravity and his handle gets shaky when someone is pushing him. It's no fluke that after 10 years in the league he still doesn't display an effective power dribble/drop step. Prime Kobe's power dribble with his back to the basket was actually more effective than Lebron's despite him being 35lbs lighter because he could keep his center of gravity lower and he also had great natural instincts and skillset posting players up. Lebron get's a little panicy with his back to the basket especially if a player is playing good pressure defense which would be unavoidable 1 on 1 against Kobe.

Someone like...Kevin Love would kill Kobe or MJ with the right strategy. Fact is, someone who has enough advantage in mass and knows how to use it to back someone down should own the matchup more often than not. It's not about how Lebron is so great but it's a matter of size and strategy.

He's played individual defense on Curry, Rose, and Parker off the top of my head and shut them all down. That's a SF not only sticking with ATG PGs but taking them completely out of the game.

Another day, another L, Cucksfan.

And lol at this bs ever even being considered. Lebron would def win, it'd be close though.

Lebron is the better overall basketball player,
But one on one is a different kind of game, Lebron's playmaking which is a big part of him being better then Kobe all time is not going to be relevent. Though Lebron is an Elite scorer I think Prime Kobe was just plain better at ISO.
