As we dig into the particulars of the 2013-14 NBA schedule which was released on Tuesday, the amount of nationally televised games awarded to teams is an interesting indicator of perceived interest or predicted success.
But as we’re learning more and more, it’s mostly an indication of market size.
Another thing to keep in mind here is that NBA TV games are included when counting up the national TV schedule — which means these numbers will change before the season is through.
NBA TV has fans vote on which game it will televise on Tuesday nights throughout the season. So, if the Heat (or even the Lakers) are one of the options, you can expect them to get the nod more often than not — again, due to the level of star power and market size much more than simply because of either team’s projected level of success.

Might as well make a list:
New York Knicks 33
Chicago Bulls 33
Oklahoma City Thunder 30
Los Angeles Lakers 29
Los Angeles Clippers 29
Miami Heat 27
Houston Rockets 26
Brooklyn Nets 26
Golden State Warriors 26
San Antonio Spurs 21
Denver Nuggets 20
Indiana Pacers 16
Dallas Mavericks 14
Memphis Grizzlies 13
Minnesota Timberwolves 13
Portland Trailblazers 11
Cleveland Cavaliers 9
Boston Celtics 6
Atlanta Hawks 6
New Orleans Pelicans 6
Washington Wizards 6
Sacramento Kings 6
Phoenix Suns 5
Utah Jazz 5
Milwaukee Bucks 5
Detroit Pistons 4
Orlando Magic 4
Charlotte Bobcats 2
Philadelphia 76ers 1
Toronto Raptors 1
It's because they know the Heat will win every "Tuesday night fan night" on NBATV. So add another 4-5 games at least to their total.

Because, I've lived in San Diego for 18 years. A lot of my friends are Laker fans, basically everyone I know is a Laker fan. We struggled in the 90's and guess what? Me and my boys still had get togethers at each other's houses or bars in the mid 2000's to watch the team play. The whole damn community (LA, SD, SF, Anaheim etc.) anywhere you go are die hard Laker fans.
It's retarded observation made by people like you that discredit just how passionate we are about the Lakers. From my experience, living in California, I just don't think many people stop being a Laker fan when they start sucking. Maybe we get a bad rep because of all the dumb celebrities, but they don't represent real Laker fans that sit in the nose-bleed sits.
LA has the most die hard fans in the NBA, and we have A LOT of them.

Cool story bro.
Biggest fan base will have the most bandwagon fans naturally and you don't speak on behalf of all Laker fans. I'm from Cali and there were absolutely no Laker fans between 2004 and 2008, just Kobe fans. Nothing wrong with being a Kobe fan, LeBron fan, Derrick Rose fan, but it's hilarious when these these people call Heat fans bandwagoners.

Empty? What a load of shit. They've been very solid over the years, better than the other Miami franchises. They aren't the best, but they aren't near the worst. Worst fanbase with Atalnta? GTFO. You expect me to believe that the Lakers with a ton of celebrities and bandwagon fans are one of the most loyal fanbases in the league? I don't deny that Miami is a fickle city, but you are in clear denial.
 Please don't talk if you started watching the Heat play in 2011, now you're just looking like an idiot. Sure Miami has been pretty solid since about 2004, but before then you had Alonzo and company. How about some of your worse seasons in the last 10 years though? It's like night and day in your arena. Completely empty when Wade isn't playing and you guys can't win more then 30 games.
Laker fans don't have the most loyal fans because we have too many rich pricks trying to get their faces on TV or promote their business, or some other paragotive. I don't think it has as much to do with the fanbase size, Miami has as many fans with all the bang wagon jumpers for now (probably more).
The reason the Lakers get more games is because they are a more attractive ratings option for the "late" game (ie: the second half of the back to back).
If I'm TNT/ESPN/ABC etc. Miami is probably my pick for the early game, but if Miami is playing like Miluakee, I'd rather show say the New York-Chicago game.
But out West, the Lakers are the biggest draw, there's no New York/Chicago/Miami/Brooklyn to worry about, it's basically them and OKC, and versus OKC, the Lakers tend to draw bigger ratings. Houston I guess will get a bump now with Dwight but that's about it. Clippers fanbase is always going to be sorta restricted by the Lakers until they go deep into the playoffs.

So using this join date logic, you started to root for the Lakers in 2011 a year coming off their latest title. Bandwagon fan. I never said Miami has one of the most loyal and best fanbases, but they are far from worse. They will show up with solid numbers for decent teams, but they will not show up for a terrible team. We all know Miami is a fickle city, but it's never been Marlins bad for the Heat. They've always averaged solid numbers.

And tickets are expensive down here too. Maybe not as expensive as the Laker tickets, but the real fans can't afford the best seats so we get a lot of rich people who don't really care about basketball. I can only afford average or terrible seats. I suppose that just comes with winning.

You are the most delusional poster here if you don't think the Lakers, Yankees, and Patriots (right now, or at least over the past 8 years) don't have the most bandwagon fans in their respective sports.
The NFL is harder to predict because year in and year out the Patriots (since the Tom Brady era started) have had a ton of bandwagon fans but the Cowboys get a ton every year (more comparable to LA right now).
If you have the best team of a sport for long periods of time, you have the most bandwagon fans. Period. I don't know why you can't comprehend that, its sad really. :biggums:
First off, it's very hard to objectively evaluate.
Second off, I always feel the most love and passion when I enter the Staples center to watch the Lakers. Heck, even in Sacramento, Denver or New York I see so many Laker fans. They are always loud and obnoxious too.
From my experience, it's hard for me to justify them as bandwagon fans. Even in 2005, when LA sucked balls; Laker fans were CRAZY and there were a lot of them in all the NBA cities around the league!

Nobody likes a pretentious asshole who thinks he's better than everyone. We all know the Lakers have the biggest fanbase in the NBA, but that also means you have the most bandwagon fans. You have loyal fans, and we have loyal fans. You have bandwagon fans, and we have bandwagon fans. You just have more of both.
I don't know, if this board is any indication Heat have the most bandwagon fans. There have been numerous posters exposed for being fans of other teams before jumping onto the Heat bandwagon. Also the Lakers posters that I've seen here have been following the Lakers for a long time, except for Lebron haters like Kenneth Griffin, 9empire and ripthekik. 2004 was the time for the Lakers bandwagon to die and it seems like a lot of them stayed loyal. Ironically the Lakers fans that left when Shaq did are now Heat fans.

TLDR version = Miami Heat fans show awful support.
The Heat have been top 5 in attendance every year in the Big 3 era. Whether they show up late to games or not doesn't improve your argument. The best seats are full of rich assholes who don't care about basketball. The best fans are in the poor seats or can't afford to get in. Their attendance only increased in 2013. You had a better argument in the early 2000s when the attendance was lousy. But again, I don't deny we have a fickle fans. We're not talking about fans only in Miami. We're talking about overall.

Has Kobe been a Laker as long as the board has been going though? If Kobe did get traded from LA in 2004, do you really not expect that a good chunk of "Laker Fans" (at least on here) would have followed Kobe?

This board isn't an indication of anything. The best Heat posters don't come on here anymore. I mean the ones who you used to post here before 2010. You can just leave out the most bandwagon
in 2005-06 when the lakers we're rolling with scrubs like Smush Parker, Luke Walton, Chris Mihm and Kwame Brown, the Lakers we're still 2nd in the league in attendence% as a 7th seed. No bandwagon there whatsoever.
But I gotta give some props for the Heat being 3rd that year in attendance% too.

A down year for you guys is still the playoffs. When is the last time you experienced a miserable season where you could barely win 20 games? Numbersix is an example of a Lakers fan that became a Heat fan when Shaq left. I've been on these boards since way before 2010 and there were never these many Heat fans on there. I can name the regular Heat fans from back then that still post today. I'm not insulted at all Lakers have their fare share of bandwagon fans, but I'm just pointing out that in my experience I've seen way more fans bandwagon the Heat than the Lakers.

The same thing that happened when Magic retired? If we get a superstar successor then the transition to championship caliber teams will be much easier. Not that the current teams provide that much.

I have said that numerous times already. The Lakers have the biggest fan base. You have a ton of loyal die hard fans, but you also have a ton bandwagon fans. That's what happens when you have the biggest fanbase. Yankee fans will say the same thing. How you react is how people will perceive you. Let's see what happens if they have continued years of failure and heartache. If you are a great team for a long time, and in one year you struggle and miss the playoffs, your attendance is not going to have a huge drop. It takes years of failure and mediocrity to destroy an attendance. There's exceptions like Cleveland, but that's very rare. The Dolphins had one of the best attendances (watch the 85 Bears MNF game) and look at them now. It took of years of BS and losing to destroy the attendance.

The city of Miami has the ability to show support to their teams when they want to. They're limited, but they exist. LA sports culture is based as fugg. Miami shows out to support Hurricanes football but they really need to step it up with the Heat in the early playoff games, Dolphins, Panthers and especially the Marlins (last in attendance with a brand new stadium) :biggums:

The Panthers aren't in Miami, but yes. The Marlins and Dolphins have terrible management and have been bad for a long time. If you've seen the things they've done to us (fire sales, celebrity owners, Tebow day, ect.), you can imagine why people don't go. Then on top of that, losing. Why even spend the money? Although in the NFL, a lot of stadiums are reporting less attendances because the NFL is better to watch on TV than in person. It's really expensive to go to NFL games. Plus you have NFL Red Zone, NFL Network, CBS, NBC, and FOX, there's no reason to leave the house.
There's no excuse for the Heat, but on top of that, South Florida is full of non-natives. Most people are from the Caribbean or from up north. Particularly where I live there are a lot of NYers. Most fans down here root for the teams where they come from. Because all the franchises are young besides the Dolphins, there's never been a established fanbase for us natives that we pass on through generations like Cub fans, Red Sox fans, ect.
As for the Hurricanes, they share Sun Life Stadium with the Dolphins. They need to get their own stadium that's not miles away from the campus.

I understand. Also even if Miami isn't the number 1 retirement destination, I bet it still gets quite a lot of people to retire there. I gotta give props to the Mexicans here, alot from Mexico because they're at least 40% of the crowd @ Laker games.
