Then you'd be wrong. While Durant has certainly improved as a passer and facilitator, he isn't close to LeBron yet. He is too clumsy and shaky with the ball to fully run an offense like LeBron has done for the past 10 years.

LeBron, quite easily in my opinion, since offense also includes passing/playmaking, and there's not another elite scorer on LeBron's level in that regard.

He's 3rd or maybe even 2nd best IMO. SMH @ Melo being mentioned over him tho.

Easily LeBron. Especially with how much better his jumpshot got over the last season. If he were to just dedicate his season to scoring, he could put up 35-37 ppg easy.

I dont buy the CP3 hype.. If Lebron had the clippers, theyd be in the Finals easy.. if Durant was on the clippers theyd be more potent offensively too and have a shot at at least finals every year

He had the number 1 PER in the playoffs and his on/off offensive numbers are better than both Bron and Durant's. It's not "hype", he's the most efficient offensive player in the league and he has a huge impact on his team's offense.

The "best offensive player" in the league was being dared to shoot in the finals.
The "best offensive player" was so amazing offensively that he basically cost his team the championship by not being able to score when being left open. Ray Allen better get a Christmas Card every year of his life from Lebron.
Clearly the "best offensive player" should have large gaps in his offensive arsenal.
With All-time great players scoring>passing
Unstoppable scorer and great passer > great scorer and amazing passer.
Great player? Absolutely undeniable.
Best offensive player in the league? Hardly.
If Lebron had the scoring skillset and Killer Instinct of Bird, Kobe or Jordan he would be GOAT. Lebron is the most physically unstoppable player ever besides Shaq and Wilt.

Well he takes his foot off the pedal far too often for my liking.. Hes a 19/9 PG.. Lebron is a 27/8 player. Hes a small step away as a playmaker and a way better scorer.
Durant is the most efficient highest volume scorer in the league. I would take his scoring alone over CP3's total package because of how rare it is. Plenty of PGs with CP3s 19/9 statline, they dont do it as efficiently but no one is even touching Durants scoring right now.. volume or efficiency.

I also think their should be more Kobe mentions, say what you want about his defense, but his offense was brilliant the whole season and he had one of his best scoring seasons of his career.

Kobes up in the air.. I think hell come back 25/5 but would suck if he was a shell.
Yeah, its the guy who scores 27 ppg and manages to get 7 assists while doing so.
And lol at the one dude mentioning Spurs letting Lebron shot in the finals. You know why they went to an extreme defence like that? Because the dude is unstoppable offensively! That approach by Pop was the best compliment to Lebron's game he could have received.
And oh yeah, still burned them with 37 points for the feckin' championship. That happened.
And 56%.

Lebron is also a better passer than Paul thanks to his wrist strength and height, he can see over his defender and observe the court and make bullet/bounce/cross court passes that Paul can never even dream of. Even in the Olympics Lebron was the PG of the team instead of Paul. Paul just does more assist padding than Lebron, plays passive and looks for shooters or alley oops, his playmaking doesn't feel as natural as Lebron's. Who actually breaks down the defense and finds the open man or generally makes the right play every time, there is a reason why Miami and OKC were the best offenses in the league last year.

there is a reason why Miami and OKC were the best offenses in the league last year. That's because the Clippers offense completely crumbled when Paul got injured for 12 games. When Paul was on the court, the Clippers were playing just as good as Miami with Lebron on the court offensively. The only reason why OKC was better offensively was because of their FT shooting. Literally.

Oh yea he did, I have no idea why Clippers look so amazing offensively in regular season but fail in the playoffs somehow. Aside from injuries, it's like their shooters and dunkers vanish. Must be the playoff D shutting down their fastbreaks and open 3s.

LeBron is the best offensive player.
Durant is the best pure scorer.
Melo and Kobe are the most versatile scorers.
Any other questions?

LeBron is the best offensive player in the league. However I would argue Durant is the most irreplaceable offensive player in the league due to being the best scorer in the league combined with his ability to destroy teams on or off the ball. His volume/efficiency from an off the ball scorer is ALREADY GOAT level

In terms of scoring productivity Lebron can match and even better perhaps, but in terms of overall scoring arsenal Durant is easily the best, most notably due to the nature of his pure shooting, which at almost 7' is absolutely nuts... and its not like he is another Dirk or something, he is much more athletic/quick/fast with better handles, an absolute nightmare of a combination, very unique....

I think you mean scoring 1 vs 5 (against great team defense)... 1 vs 1 its impossible to guard Lebron, he will be blowing by or bulldozing through you 24-7 or back you down all the way down under the rim etc....
1 vs 5 its different, Lebron wants to drive and everybody knows that, the first thing he does when he faces you up is to look behind you if everything is clear, if there will be any trap or double/triple team... thats where/why he will be forced to take a jumpshot instead even if its obvious the 1 defender infront of him is the worst defender in the league, its all up to those other 4 guys behind who decide whether he will shoot or pass the ball or deliberately drive anyways to draw the defense to kickout or try draw foul..... the 1 guy infront is just on an island....
Durant is a better scorer 1 vs 5 aka. against team defense, he will make you pay more with jumpshots... where as Lebron makes you pay more often with his passing if you overplay him with team defense (trap/clog lane etc), unless his jumpshot is falling...

Lol. Durant is a lot better in the half court, lebrons efficiency is only so high due to fast breaks. You can't increase volume of fast breaks

I'm shocked Curry didn't come up much earlier in this thread, he has a real shot at being a legit superstar if he stays healthy(I know, big if). Another name to consider outside the usual suspects(LBJ, Durant, Kobe, Melo, Curry) is Irving, he is only a small step away from being in that league.

You didn't even address any of my points.
But, Really? you think that?
Lebron has success because he is surrounded by shooters and gets to play 1 vs 1 all game because Wade is on the wing and the floor is spread with Chalmers, Allen, Miller, Battier, Bosh etc.
Even in Cleveland he was surrounded by shooters(Williams, Parker, West, Big Z)
Lebron is elite in this type of system where he gets to pound the ball and the floor is spaced for him. No doubt about it. For instance, put him on last years Lakers where they only have 1 shooter on the floor and you'll see the holes in his game much clearer.

Over 80 games, in the last three years, Rose was the only player that continuously broke down defenses. Wade, Kobe and a slimmer Lebron did so in earlier years. CP3 once upon a time did so too... A lot of guys can score.

It's not about mindset nor is it about individual scoring.
LeBron James is by far and away the best offensive player in the league right now, and even if everyone in the league were in their prime, he'd still be the best.
He is at worst the third best perimeter based offensive player of all time with a debate between Jordan, Johnson & James. AT WORST. Honestly I'd put him as the GOAT perimeter player in terms of OFFENSE but I would definitely acknowledge there being a debate on that. As of right now, in this league, there is no debate and there hasn't been a comparable offensive force since Shaq and there hasn't been a comparable perimeter offensive force since Jordan.
And there are no current post players that have even remotely close to the same level of impact as James does offensively.
LeBron James is probably the only perimeter player ever that you could literally put on any team in the league and they're guaranteed 50 wins no matter what and a great deal of that is his offense... crashing the glass offensively, breaking down defenses while he drives, making precision passes, or just straight up scoring on you. There has never been a player quite like him.
