Just thought I'd post their head-to-head stats against each other :confusedshrug:
Points/Rebounds/Assists
Carmelo Anthony vs Kevin Durant
Carmelo: 11 wins. 30/7/3.5 on 50/40/85 shooting.
Durant: 1 win. 27/7/3.3 on 42/38/89 shooting.
--
Carmelo Anthony vs LeBron James
Regular Season
Carmelo: 10 wins. 24/6/2.4 on 44/36/78 shooting.
LeBron: 7 wins. 25/8/7 on 47/26/70 shooting.
Playoffs
Carmelo: 1 win. 28/8/2 on 42/22/76 shooting.
LeBron: 4 wins. 28/6/6 on 48/35/81 shooting.
--
Kevin Durant vs LeBron James
Regular Season
LeBron: 9 wins. 28/7/7 on 52/40/77 shooting.
Durant: 2 wins. 29/7/3 on 48/47/86 shooting.
Playoffs
LeBron: 4 wins. 29/10/7 on 47/19/83 shooting.
Durant: 1 win. 31/6/2 on 55/39/84 shooting.
So LeBron outplays both Carmelo and Durant, while Carmelo generally outplays Durant :confusedshrug:

Melo isn't a good enough defender to be the reason Durant has shot 42% so far. 12 games is a respectable sample size but if they ever met in the playoffs Durant will be closer to his normal numbers. I'm not buying Melo as KD's kryptonite.

The Durant/Melo matchup reminds me of the Paul/D-Will matchup. Durant/Paul are better in almost every category and get more recognition, but they always lose the h2h matchup to Melo/D-Will - players viewed as inferior to them. They play well against everybody else but look below average against their kryptonites - Melo and Williams.

Also have to take into consideration that LeBron and Carmelo were entering their prime with superior teams when they were first playing against a young (1st-3rd year) Durant. Of course Carmelo was finally healthy for an OKC game this year (first time in 2 or 3 years) and still outplayed Durant. Just one of those things, I guess, but I don't understand it.

Durant already has a greater list of accomplishments (barring those thatbuild up over time like # of all star apperances).

I agree, imagine the reaction if lebron had the same exits melo has had from the last 2 playoffs. He would've been torn apart on here.

30 years from now lebron will still be involved in basketball discussions like kareem/bird/magic/hakeem/mj currently are. Melo will be one of those "oh yeah that guy" type player s to most people. Lebron is better than melo buddy :)

I agree LeBron is much better than Melo, but it doesn't change the fact that 30 years from now people will always say LeBron never won without Wade and Bosh.

LeBron's career is far from over yet, so there is a chance he could win titles with different players.
Likewise, Melo can definitely win with a certain cast of players too.
If it does stand the way it is, 30 years from now, the tune of LeBron not winning without Wade and Bosh sounds way better than Melo not even winning anything.
The statement is pretty ignorant, though. It applies that LeBron couldn't win with another cast of stars, when he most certainly could.

That's the point he's saying Lebron can only win with a cast of all stars

Maybe, but who doesn't ? Very rare instances... and again, it's not like he can't (career isn't over) when he still got many good years left in him.
Plus, it's not like Bosh was some special all-star the last 2 runs. 30 years from now, I know most will just look at LeBron with rings more than anything, as opposed to online where this will only brought up.

Not really surprising, Durant has been known as poor man's Carmelo since he entered the league, and will stay this way till Melo is out of prime.
