This should warrant a perma-ban. Never mind the fact that this has absolutely nothing to do with the NBA.

Truth be told, though it was a nice move and incredible layup. Some decent athleticism, but he's doing it on a bunch of weak athletic specimen to begin with ...

FYI to OP, he pulled off an American move created by God Shammgod, so once again V-Span trying to bite the moves, creativity, and swagger of us American hoopers. Executing it on weak competition.

I'd love to see him try this with some great perimeter NBA defender on him, and not some slow of foot, smelly, bearded, lusting after his mother, hummus eating Greek scrub.

It isn't american move. That is famous move used by Dejan Bodiroga and he is older than Shammgod and by the time Shammgod was drafted Bodiroga already had 2 gold medals from EC and Olympic silver medal.

Ummm, no. False. Lie. That clip was from the 2002 FIBA games, dumb ass.

God Shammgod was pulling that move off in the mid to late 90's. He created the damn move.

It's essentially a euro-step (a move not created in Europe, either) but with the ball in hand.

Well, on the roll or bounce in front of the defender. Get your dribble history game up. Shammgod has one of the sickest handles I've ever seen. Along with the likes of CP3, Nash, KJ, Isiah, Timmy Hardaway, Marbury, B-Diddy, Francis, Crawford, and Iverson.

So what if clip is from 2002, he did it before that to.

Bodiroga started playing in 1990 so yes he is the one who invented it.

What do you think is more likely that Bodiroga watched Shammgod when he was still in HS or that Shammgod watched Bodiroga who played in finals of all international turnaments ?

Good dribble move, but not worth a foul call or it's own thread for that matter.

Also, what is with his foul shot? Barely moves his body at all. Minimal leg use, and his arms barely move. It's like a little flick shot, he's around 80% from the line so you can't really knock it if it works, but looks a little unorthodox.

I have clips of Jerry West, Lenny Wilkins, and Oscar Robertson doing that dribble drive in the early 1960's. They didn't popularize it like Shammgod because there was a lot less coverage back then, but the move definitely wasn't "invented" by Bodiroga. It is a move that is probably a lot older than any of us realizes, there isn't really anything complicated about it, people were probably doing it back before the 1950's for all I know.

Did he favor his right? Obviously. Was he incapable of switching hands and using both to complete a move? Obviously not.

I know. But dude would move to his left, using his right hand to handle the pill. He didn't pull the Shammgod move off how it's supposed to be done. In dramatic and quick fashion. A form of the move? Maybe. No where in that video was there anything close to resembling the move in question.

It's impossible to determin who first did that move, migh have been some dude who never was a pro bb player who knows heck even my father says he did that move at pickup games so yes you are right Bodiroga didn't invented it but as you can see in the comments of the video Euroleague provided people mention Bodiroga. It's because he mastered that move and became famous for it, almost every great player has some move they are famous for even if they didn't invent it and that is a case with Bodiroga and that move.

I later told Cavs I was wrong.

Anyway here's what I found out about this move

God Shammgod, a college basketball player for Providence and briefly with the Wizards in the NBA, is well known for his unique dribble move. The move is known as "The Shammgod" in the US.

However, the move has been dated all the way back to 1980 by Danko "El Killer del Perimetro" Cvjeticanin. A former player from Croatia. Yugoslavian forward Dejan Bodiroga is credited with popularizing the move. Bodiroga's version is called "El Latigo", which is Spanish for "The Whip".

Having watched the Yugoslav league in the 80s, I confirm it was Cvijeticanin's trademark move and probably his invention. Cvijeticanin is one of the best European pure shooters of all time, Stephen Curry-like.

There's actually quite a lot of footage of Kicanovic in the 70s, but I haven't seen him perform that move. He had other crafty moves though.

It's highly probably several players came to the same idea in different places and eras.

Bodiroga's version was the most efficient, since he was 6-9 with a giant step. Cvijeticanin's mainly used it to create space for his J. I'm forgetting Manu, of course.

First of all, Lithuania's front line are NBA players. Second, it was not a move invented by God Shammgod. It was being done a lot by Dejan Bodiroga and copied by Shammgod, who saw him playing in big international tournaments.
