Chris Tucker will be his first guest tomorrow.

this is a joke, right?
i remember that show being pretty much arsenio grinning like an idiot, clapping his hands and saying "whoo whoo whoo"... interrupted occasionally by a guest... or very lame bantering with the band.
there's gotta be a creative brother out there far more deserving of a show than this guy.

I'm excited.
There's somethign especially charming about the crop of talent that came about during Arsenio's time. Loved how he aggressively attacked those clowns.
After watching This is the End, I find myself imagining Heaven would feature Vanilla Ice, Arsenio, Eddie Murphy as Prince Akeem, 2 Live Crew, New Kids on the Block, and a Tribe Called Quest putting out cheesy concerts day after day.
Can't wait to die.

so a talk show starring a no talent has-been who interviews other has-beens? sounds like a recipe for success.

Didn't Arsenio ,Magic and Eddie Murphy used to have threesomes back in the 80s. That's where Magic got HIV from.

Ha I happy he's back hope the show is good.
I was a kid but I remember watching his show back in the day.
I loved it at the end when he didn't give a f*ck started opening up spots for dope Hip Hop acts etc.in the 90's.

Some lady was handing out fliers, if you went to the taping or some shit you could win $500. I didn't take one, and I'm not going.

Arsenio's debut was a rating success.
He had better numbers than Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Late Night With David Letterman and The Tonight Show With Jay Leno last night.
oh the horror

Where are you located? It;s syndicated, so it's usually on local CW Stations.

He got Nas on last night.
He's killing it with the music guests he has on.

He always had the best musical guest ... always.
He'd have whole shows dedicated to one guest, like Prince or Madonna.

That's why I grew up watching Arsenio more than those other guys.
Also, his interviews are great because he doesn't have a script. It's like he's just chilling with them.
After watching a couple episodes, it reminded me of why I liked Arsenio in the past. The musical guests and his interviews.
Let's hope it gets better before nostalgia wears out. I would like to see his ratings compared to others too.

Arsenio has already had Magic and Kareem on. I guess James Worthy is next.

Watching his opening monologue is the worst thing that's ever happened to me.
I dig Arsenio and I try to catch it every night...One of the only shows back in the day where blacks could really get their shine, especially hip-hop artists....But I've seen every show of this new season and I enjoyed all of them, even shit like the Band Perry who I've never heard of..Ive made up my mind that I'm just gonna support the show and enjoy regardless of who's on there...

I watched the Chris Tucker and Ice Cube ones, and it felt like time travel.
Not sure how long he can keep eyes on him reliving past glories, but there might be that 'latenight when TV turns black' demo that will tune in.
I think the 'urban' 30-50 year old demo will dig this show while it will just confuse everyone else.
If Conan can survive this should too.

the big difference is, conan is still near the top of cutting edge late-night humor AFAIK.
if arsenio 2.0 survives, it will have to be for extremely different reasons IMO.
anyway, i watched about 20 minutes of clips. arsenio is still really likeable, with a kind of childlike but dated naughtiness streak.
he actually reminds me a lot more of leno than conan. just kind of comfortably riding along with a somewhat middle-aged audience... pushing them just enough to giggle... not enough to get confused or offended.
side note: paula abdul looked like a nervous wreck. i was half-hoping someone could hand her a drink so she could settle down. i wonder how they made it through all those seasons of idol with her in the spotlight...

Damn you CBS!
After renewing the series for a second season in February, CBS now decides to cancel after the first season.
