Im sure we'll see plenty of love for freaks and geeks on here, as well as love for firefly (though, ive never seen it. not my cup of tea)

but what are other shows your thouroughly enjoyed only to be let down due to the fact that they were cancelled or completed after 1 season

ill get the ball rolling with the now defunct FX show, Terriers. Basically, its about a now sober ex cop who started a PI business with a former thief. Pretty basic premise, but still a really well written and acted show. stars Donal Logue (the dad from grounded for life) and Michael Raymond-James (rene from true blood)

the shows now on netflix for anyone who found interest in that short, lacking synapse

what other shows do you guys got?

I kind of liked Jack & Bobby. Although I haven't watched it since it was still on air...

Oh, Undeclared was pretty good too. Another Judd Apatow show. Not quite as good as Freaks and Geeks.

Freaks and Geeks was quality, had a lot of potential and launched a ton of big careers.

My So Called Life.

Never saw an episode of firefly, but heard great things about it. May check it out eventually.

The annoying thing about Freaks and Geeks is that now it's too late to pick it back up. With shows about adults like 24, Arrested Development etc you can bring them back years after they got cancelled and jump back into things

But Freaks and Geeks the best you could do is like a class reunion movie or something because everyone's aged too much to pick back up anywhere near where things left off. The network just f*cked it all up and there's no way to really fix it

There's only an unaired pilot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lWgXDOAJ5s). It's the dumbest shit ever, but totally awesome :lol The 2 main characters are:

Jack Austin, a former astronaut. He was exposed to inappropriate levels of solar energy, giving him superintelligence. He appears to lose this intelligence at night, requiring only Earth-normal levels of daylight to reactivate it. His catchphrases are "I know EVERYTHING!" and "Knowledge is power... for real." Played by Jack Black.

Heat Vision, a talking motorcycle. He was created when Jack's unemployed roommate Doug was shot by a ray, causing him to merge with his motorcycle. He is capable of speech and can fight by ramming into opponents. He is unable to use doorknobs and is unable to right himself if pushed over. Voiced by Owen Wilson.

It's written by Dan Harmon (Community) and directed by Ben Stiller. Awesome stuff.

I could just see the suspenseful cliffhanger setup....

*Jack is trapped in a room and tied to a bomb. There are only 25 seconds left before it detonates. Heat Vision arrives on the scene*

"Dammit Jack! There's a doorknob! WHY do I have to be a MOTORCYCLE??"

*To be continued.....*

Don't know if this counts but there was a comic who made 3 episodes of a show that won a comedy central pilot competition (including development, so it may be produced eventually). It was an ingenious idea- it's set up like an 80s-90s family sitcom only that one of the characters is a homeless drug addict name Moonrock :lol

Here's the first 3 episodes (only about 9 min each):

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xydsvk_family-bum-episode-1-moonrock-s-very-first-job-interview_fun

I'd actually like to see that turned into a real series.

This show was amazing, shame it was too sophisticated for NBC's braindead audience and didn't get high enough ratings.

Alphas made it to two seasons. (although the second one was kinda meh, until the last couple episodes).

On the Freaks and Geeks note, Rogen has said he wants to get together and do a Freaks and Geeks movie, or maybe something like a small series on Netflix. And thinks that most of the cast would be down to work on it again.

This show hit it's climax and then ended. The show finished on a massive cliffhanger.

The ****ing kid and Nimrod met up with the two scientists finally, after we'd been following them separately the entire series, and it ends. Just like that.

Loved this show.

Already mentioned:
Freaks and Geeks
Firefly
Undeclared
The Lone Gunmen
Surface (I wouldn't have remembered it, but yeah it was pretty good).
Terriers
Stella
Party Down (two seasons, but goddammit that is one of best comedies of the century!).
Jericho (Doesn't count but I'm still pissed)

Not yet mentioned:

Profit- Jim Profit is a newly promoted employee following the heart attack death of the former VP of Acquisitions at Gracen & Gracen (G&G), a multinational corporation that is less than ethical with some of its business practices. That does not worry Profit, who is not above blackmail, bribery, extortion, or even murder to get ahead in the company. Jim Profit would routinely speak directly to the audience with such quotes as: "The line most people say they won't cross - it's usually something they've already done when they thought no one was watching."

(Adrian Pasdar was quoted as saying that Profit was [Rupert] Murdoch's favorite TV show.)

Miracles-Miracles follows Paul Callan, an investigator of modern miracles for the Catholic Church who questions his faith after repeatedly finding mundane explanations for various supposed phenomena. After he witnesses a true, supernatural miracle that saves his life, only for his findings to be dismissed on a lack of evidence, Paul leaves behind the Church and is approached by Alva Keel to join his organization Sodalitas Quaerito, investigating and cataloguing "unexplainable" phenomena. Along with former police officer Evelyn Santos, Paul and Alva attempt to battle the impending "darkness" before it's too late.

I saw a few episodes of this on PBS years ago. Trippy British 60s TV.

'The Prisoner'
This British-made TV series aired in the UK during the 1967 to 1968 season and in the United States in 1968 to 1969. It was deliberately short-lived because its star and creator, Patrick McGoohan, reportedly could only come up with ideas for 17 episodes. McGoohan, who had quit the hit British TV show "Danger Man" (retitled "Secret Agent" in the United States) because he'd become bored with the 1960s espionage craze, figured out an ingenious way to subvert that theme. What if a disillusioned former spy (who bore an unspoken resemblance to his character, John Drake, in the first show) tried to quit the clandestine service, but the government decided that he knew too much to be allowed to walk away?

In "The Prisoner," that agent was knocked out with sleeping gas pumped into his apartment, and woke up in a mysterious place known only as "The Village," surrounded by others who apparently also had been quarantined. The hamlet's quaint architecture, cheery cafe and schedule of recreational activities, of course, was a facade; behind it lurked high-tech surveillance equipment and a bizarre giant ball that bounded forth to retrieve anyone who dared try to escape. The implication of "The Prisoner" was that the good guys in the Cold War were perhaps not so different from the bad guys, and that democracy was a sham that concealed a totalitarian national security elite. That theme -- and "The Prisoner's" dreamlike narrative, psychedelic production style and tart humor -- have resonated ever since. In 2009, shortly after McGoohan's death, AMC aired a miniseries version of "The Prisoner" that reinterpreted his idea.

:oldlol: Okay, I take back the age comment then. I thought you watched the first run of the show somehow. I also think you're the first MST3K viewer I've found on ISH. Got any favorite episodes off the top of your head?

That Prisoner show sounds pretty cool, and I remember the Simpsons using that bouncing ball thing in the cult episode, "Na na na na na na na na Leader".

Police Squad was also cool. 6 episode precursor to Naked Gun.

Not any I can recall. Used to watch that show in college in a shall we say slightly altered mental state.

Was gonna post the same thing. Too bad itwasn't on a different channel. It would have lasted quite a long time. Over the top, but entertaining show.

I remember ESPN had another show called "Tilt" that focused on high stakes poker, starring that Elvis guy. That didn't last long either.

They did an entire episode based on "Prisoner." It's the one where Homer begins making up salacious rumours (that turn out to be true) in order to get more traffic for his website.
