Is Kareem's first game of his NBA career... 10/18/1969. Video is unlisted so keep it on the DL - don't put it on any public playlist, I don't make a habit of uploading full vids because if the NBA finds any connected with my channel my channel could be removed but this one was so intact and had such great quality I figured I'd share the whole thing uninterrupted.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge. What makes it unlisted or what do you mean by unlisted?
I can change the availability of my videos in 3 distinct ways:

*Public (everyone can search for it, and see it if they try to find with a search through google or Youtube) - also my subscribers are alerted

*Unlisted (only people who I give the link too can see it... that's what I did right here, I've shared the link with you guys)

*Private (only myself and Youtube users who I specifically chose and put on a list can view the video)

That's because it's still being processed. Said it'd be finished in 5 minutes about 30 minutes ago, so it's taking a bit longer than it said it would but nothing unusual with Youtube, just check back every few minutes.

Seems like I picked the wrong day to upload, Youtube is now doing maintenance and several features are disabled, which is probably why the processing suddenly slowed to a crawl sorry guys :(

I'll probably check it out. I love watching broadcasts of different eras. To hear the different wording, the different mannerisms and how people played back yonder is interesting to me.

I don't know anything about what "version" I have... afaik there is only 1 version of this game. Anyways, I bought a screencapture program called liteCamHD and recorded an itunes window of the game playing. I notice my recorded versions fps and resolution is a bit herky-jerky and blurry sometimes compared to the itunes version but it's the best quality I could get. I also put it in adobe premiere and filled out the black background with a blurred backdrop so the entire video fits Youtubes now-standard 16x9 format (an effect I plan to do with most of my future uploads).

eh sorry I guess not everyone will like it but I got the idea from the Golden State Warriors vids:

To me it seemed like a clever solution to 4:3 format vids not fitting Youtube's 16x9 window

Personally I don't mind the 4:3 ratio... Hell we all lived in a 4:3 world until a few years ago anyway.

There's pros and cons to each, but as long as there's no stretching of the 4:3 aspect ratio into 16:9 I'm all set.

Color always makes 60s games look much more modern compared to the black and white.

The perfect shape for video, other than a circle, would be a 1:1 ratio. With that ratio nothing is being discarded.

Just a couple of minutes in and I'm already enjoying this...

- Kareem scoring with his first shot in the pros.
- Bellamy answering with a big dunk at the other end.
- Mendy Rudolph blowing a travelling call against the Bucks (I have the utmost respect for referees like Rudolph, Drucker and Borgia but, lets be honest, they blew a lot of calls that just wouldn't happen today)

It's technically no more than 480p I just converted it to 720, no resolution is actually gained though. Still it's much higher quality than most any other 60's broadcast that survives from that era. I got a screen capture program called litecamHD and used it to record my itunes window of this game. The game is avail from itunes and I had purchased it from itunes a while back. You can't edit or upload itunes format videos though so I was waiting to get that litecam software before I could share the vid.

It's always interesting to watch top players who also played against future top players.

I mean, the video is from 1969, and Kareem also played against Bird, who also played against Reggie Miller, who Kobe said was the hardest player he ever had to guard.

A teen might look at Bird and think he wouldn't be able to play today, but he was much better than Miller, and also went up against Jordan.

So it all makes you wonder how players from different eras might adjust and play, even though the styles look so much more different.

Thank you so much for posting this! Very interesting to watch, and great quality.

The basketball itself though....pretty ugly. I watched the entire thing and one sequence sticks out. There's literally a dude standing with his hands on his hips at the top of the key, gets a pass, and immediately takes one dribble into a contested 15ft floater :wtf:

maybe it was just this game :confusedshrug: It's the only 1960's game I've ever seen, so I'm not going to pretend to be an expert.
