Last series wasn't as good as last airbender. But it was still really cool. First episode of the new season comes out tomorrow. The trailer for season 2 looks epic. REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS

Its been years since last series, I cant believe its coming!

Atleast animation wise this looks like the best series yet. Hopefully they step up the character development, Last Airbender had amazing characters, as good as I've seen in any animation

Yeah, Last Airbender was tremendous. Maybe my favorite tv show ever to be honest. I think Korra will gain depth once she deals with the spirit world similar to how it helped add depth to Aangs experience as Avatar.

Im very excited for the new season. These shows also have a great score to go with the stories.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the greatest shows I have ever seen. Korra wasn't as good but was still great. I completely forgot about season 2 and can't wait to see this. Season 1's biggest problem was that it was originally supposed to be the only season and the plot was rushed and ended with a major deus ex machina. With 3 more seasons, the creators can develop the characters like they did in A:TLA

ATLA is #1 on my favorite shows aired in America. As far as on my shows worldwide:
1. Raildex
2. Attack on Titan
3. Oreimo
4. Gurren Lagann
5. A:TLA

My list changes all the time though.

Korra will face her greatest challenge in Season Two: her parents
Book Two of The Legend of Korra is titled Spirit, and our teenaged Avatar will be battling plenty of frightening spirits. But Korra will also journey to the Southern Water Tribe, where she'll deal with a more earthly concern: her family.

We got a chance to sit down with Legend of Korra creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko and cast members Janet Varney (Korra), David Faustino (Mako), and P. J. Byrne (Bolin) today during Comic-Con. Book Two will take Korra out of Republic City as the latest threat to the human world returns her home to the South Pole. "Instead of a city problem, it's more of a global issue," explains DiMartino.

Going home means that we'll spend more time with the members of Korra's family, including her father Tonraq (James Remar), mother Senna, uncle Unalaq (Adrian LaTourelle), and twin cousins Desna (Aaron Himelstein) and Eska (Aubrey Plaza). While so many heroes in children's media are parentless (including Avatar: The Last Airbender's Aang), Korra now has multiple parental figures, including her mentor Tenzin, who served as her surrogate father in Book One. In the video below, Varney and Konietzko explain how Korra will have difficulty balancing these parental figures with her own strong will and her duties as Avatar:

But Korra's key concern in Book Two will be balancing the human world with the spirit world. "It's about the contrast of something so ancient and organic against this fully developed world," Konietzko says.

Will we see anything as intense as Koh the Face-Stealer from Avatar: The Last Airbender? "We have a lot of scary stuff," DiMartino says. "Definitely Book Two is more spirits than anyone knows what to do with. We decided, let's finally address the spirit world, what it is, and just see more of it than in the original series. There is no shortage of cool spirits."

Varney doesn't want to give away too much about how the spirits interact with the human world, but she does say this: the spirits' visual designs are nothing short of stunning:

Yesterday, it was announced that The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun would be joining the cast as Wan, the first Avatar. "He did some pretty significant things that changed the world and established what the Avatar is all about," says DiMartino. "So it's more about what [Korra]'s supposed to do as the Avatar." He adds, "Now she has even more pressure to live up to." Wan is getting his own story arc in the larger context of this season, but the way Korra interacts with Wan will be different from the way we've seen her communicate with the deceased Aang.

But there are plenty of other new characters that the creators are excited about, especially the businessman Varrick. "He's hilarious. He's our new favorite character," Konietzko says with a grin.

"And Korra's cousins, the creepy twins," adds DiMartino.

"They're just kind of awkward. They're kind of like goth kids," says Konietzko.

"Not very socially cultivated," DiMartino agrees. "They don't get along with people that well."

We'll certainly be seeing more of Korra, Mako, Bolin, Tenzin, and now Tenzin's siblings Kya (Lisa Edelstein) and Bumi (Richard Riehle). For those fans looking to see all their favorites from Book One, the creators advise patience. We may not get to all the characters' stories in this season, but there will be four seasons in total, with plenty of time to explore the characters.

This was also the first time the cast saw the new Legend of Korra Naga and Pabu plush toys, and they were adorably excited about them.

It seems like the rebellion of the Spirit world will be the plot line for the season. I'm thinking that the Spirit world will react negatively to the modernization of the world that we saw last season (similar to the angry spirit from the burned down forest in ATLA).

Season 3 starting tomorrow. They're going to air 3 episodes and then take a break until 11th July.

Platinum Studios (formerly Clover studios) are doing a Korra action game for a variety of consoles (including PS3/PS4 and XBOX360/One). Haven't played any of their new stuff but back in the PS2 era I really liked GodHand and Viewtiful Joe so it could be interesting.

this was hardly advertised at all huh.

First season sucked. Second season sucked but had some really good episodes, like the finale and the one with the first avatar.

Looking forward to this even though I know ill be disappointed

I thought they were only doing 2 seasons for Korra? The fact that the last airbender was 3 volumes long, and Korra has made it to 3 seasons speaks volumes about the hype that the first Avatar generated... cuz Korra ain't that great.

They need to make more dynamic characters in Korra. In Avatar you had the banished Uncle who was secretly some warrior of the white lotus, prince Zuko who was an anti-hero in some respects, Zuko's sister who's background reveal gave her an actual personality.

The villians in Korra have felt so... flat. The season 2 baddie was more monumental, but didn't really have much depth to it. Even the good guys feel flat, with the exception of Tenzin's relationship with his Dad and siblings.

But I guess maybe the 12 year olds watching could care less and hardly notice the difference.

last airbender had the best character development Ive ever seen in any cartoon ever. Also every member of the team felt important. Legend of korra has no character development and bland characters. This is because the creators did not work with alot of the main writers from last airbender and chose to write korra themselves. I still have hope this series will be great but I know it will suck.

This season has zuko and azula atleast. then another season after that. I hope it becomes good eventually.

Character development on ATLA and that includes the 4 nations. Each had distinct cultures which played important roles. I think the new show has made a mistake by not making a bigger deal about the industrialization of the world and the convergence of the 4 nations in Republic City.

Here's a profile of the season 3 characters. Seems interesting, it does contain some spoilers. I've highlighted some of the major ones below in white text.

The Dai Li have lasted for the past 100+ years since the last airbender days. They've been breeding airbenders hoping the next airbender avatar will eventually be born under their brainwashed schools. There's a young boy raised under their rule named Kai, an airbender who ends up meeting Jinora, likely love story.

Dai Li ruled by the "earth queen" likely the main baddie for season 3.Although there is another criminal that tried to kidnap Korra when she was younger that will be introduced this season as well. Additionally it looks like they're adding Zuko as an elderly dragonrider in this book as well (and they're adding in the girl who went on a date with Zuko back in Ba Sing Se as a relevant character). So far seems appealing but I really hope they don't gloss over each character so hopefully we'll get a longer season this time around done right.
