Agreed. He should join the And1 Mixtape tour (they still do that, right?). I could also see him on the Globetrotters.

Dude still can ball but he has confidence issues. Evidenced by his poor play last time he had a contract. Dude went on a downward spiral after the injury.

He needs to play in the NBA D-league, and gain his confidence back.

It's a misconception that this is about "confidence." He may well have lost a lot of it but that's because he played badly, and bad play will make a player lose faith. The reason he declined is 3 surgeries on his left knee and years gone without playing. Rust and injury kills careers. His knee is almost guaranteed to be arthritic, the cartilage has to be largely gone. He can hang around lower leagues like the Chinese BBall association, maybe even an NBA team will see if he can be a second or third-string guard. But the undying interest some of you have is wasted because he will never be a significant player again and probably won't even make it back to the league. An old player can be worn down by injuries OR he can have been a little stupid but physically still capable and past his problems. You can't be both beat up physically as well as an idiot. Arenas has no value right now.

some nice moves but at the speed he's doing them, it probably wont cut it in the NBA

i hope he finds his way back into a league so he can keep playing

definitely a pretty talented player unfortunately injuries took its toll

Is that a Magic jersey shorts?

I think he's a nice guy who got into a bad situation. He definitely fell off (both his game and his confidence), but i think he deserves another shot for a spot in the L.

Hes a low IQ player who lost his athleticism... he has no future in the NBA. The moves looks mad cool though. I'm sure they work on regular Joe Schmoes

Pretty much. And the regular shmoe actually contested some shots pretty well. Against NBA competition that shit wouldn't fly.

If he's not planning to come back or play any professional basketball, why is he working out? just for fun?

Does anyone know how to slow down those clips so I can study one of those moves?

I was never a fan of his game to be honest, or even his personality. I definitely think his PPG stats in 2006, and 2007 got boosted by the rule changes. He never performed all that spectacular in the better defensed playoff basketball.

As for the videos. I saw a crazy amount of travels, and carries in a lot of those moves. On one he basically palms the ball and side shuffled with both feet. He used to be pretty quick, pretty good handle. This shit flies on the guy he's guarding, a regular young weekend warrior. But on NBA defenses?

Come on fellas. Stop claiming he's back. He'd be rusty as hell by now in actuality.

You dont understadn the mentality of the man, in orlando he wanted to do the right thing. Not be a chucker, he was overthinking and lost all confidence. I feel for him, he just needs to let his talents flow. there is still a place for gilbie, im sure of it.

Atrocious trade to get Gilbert and the we barely even played him :facepalm

It wasn't a great deal but don't forget that they traded Rashard Lewis to get him. They were basically the only players either team could get for each other.

He's only 31 and still out of the league? He looks good and surely he should be playing basketball and not chilling at home at 31 years old with what looks to me as him being in great shape.

I know he is an idiot and it should be expected of an athlete but this guy is the third highest paid player this season who has been told by everyone they dont want him. Instead of just giving up and giving into a less healthy lifestyle he is still in great shape and working on his game, props.

Rashard had one year left if I rememeber right. We're still paying Gilbert.

.

Actually, in 2006 he went up against a good defensive team in Cleveland and basically matched Lebron over a 6 game series with 34ppg on 46% FG. He also basically won the Wizards the only playoff series they have won in 25 years when hitting a game winning jumper over solid defender Kirk Hinrich in the 2005 playoffs.
