Vassilis Spanoulis took a huge dump on NBA starters Ricky Rubio and Jose Calderon, leading Greece to a victory over Spain.

Spanoulis had 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists and led Greece (the team full of 12 "Euroleague scrubs") to a 79-75 win over Spain and it's "7 legit NBA rotation players".

NBA starter Ricky Rubio, who was playing Spanoulis straight up, head to head in the first half (they doubled Spanoulis after that) had 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists with his usual bad shooting of 2/7.

While NBA starter Jose Calderon had 5 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists.

Spain's other point guards (former NBA rotation player) Sergio Rodriguez had
3 points, 0 rebounds, and 0 assists, and NBA draft pick Sergio Llull, that "NBA genius" Daryl Morey claims is a, "legit NBA level starter", had 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist.

So Spain's entire 4 man "legit NBA rotation back court" had in total, 16 points, while Spanoulis, the "super mega Euro scrub", BY HIMSELF, had 20 points.

Whatever you're doing to try to prop Spanoulis, it's not working. 3 assists for a point guard is pretty shit.

Damn Euroleague, what is wrong with you? Let's face it, you don't matter outside of this anonymous message board. You can tweet Eurohoops, they don't give a f*ck. You can cry to Nikos Zisis, he doesn't give a f*ck either. You can tweet ESPN dudes to ask Van Gundy why he didn't play Spanoulis. Both the reporter and Van Gundy don't give a f*ck.
Even your boyfriend Spanoulis doesn't give a flying f*ck about what some idiots on this board do. Some write stupid shit about how he's the worst player ever, you on the other hand are constantly sucking his d*ck. Doesn't matter to him, he's filthy rich, has a great job and couldn't care less about some inbred redneck from Arkansas. No matter how loud you're shouting on this board, it doesn't make you relevant to anyone outside of your trailer park. Even if the whole world was hating your boy toy V-Span, what difference does it make? He doesn't care, why do you? Why do you feel insulted when people you don't even know poke fun at a basketball player you've never met?

In short words: Why you mad?

While Spain is advancing to the quarter-finals (unless they lose to Italy tomorrow) and again Spanoulis chokes. First getting eliminated by Nigeria than losing to Finland and then getting outplayed by Dragic and Slovenia.

Any question about Spanoulis being an even decent player has been shattered as the world has again witnessed Spanoulis leading heavy favored Greece to an early embarrassing exit.

I am sure all of Greece, except you, is begging for Spanoulis to leave the NT and stick to the JV level Euroleague because as everybody has seen, time and time again, when he plays in competitions with NBA level players he just can't handle it and loses again and again.

It finally shows that Euroleague MVP means nothing when you can't hold your own against NBA role players like Dragic.

Top Euro clubs would have a decent chance to get in playoffs(at least on EAST). I am not saying that they would ever win rings, but there are some awfull teams in NBA who would get destroyed by top euro clubs. NBA has something like 8 teams who are really good and others who are just an average teams....... difference between top nba team and the rest of the league is huuuuge, difference between non top 8 nba teams and EL top 4-6 is minimal at best.

I can understand this arogance tho. Only NBA fans(esp americans) don't have alot of chances to watch EL and they just look at the roster and think lol scruuuubs.. but that's just simply isn't true.
Prime example was a game played between Real Madrid vs Olympiacos in EL finals and Memphis vs Oklahoma playoffs on the same day. First game was on such a higher level than the playoff game.

Well, he played 31 games. And even if he hated it, is it too much asked from a top 3 player in the world to at least shoot better than 32% from the field and 17% from 3? I mean he should've dominated based on his athleticism alone, right?

Why was V-Span so bad in the NBA?

i am going to attempt to have a rational conversation about vassilis spanoulis *deep breath*

i think it takes a while to get used to the nba game, no matter how experienced you are. some players are just more suited to it, and will adapt quicker (like rubio), and i think that works both ways. some talented nba players have looked pretty mediocre while playing in europe.

i definitely think that the nba is an overwhelmingly more talented league, but there is a difference in styles, between the two leagues, that you need to take into account.

as for v-span in particular, he only played one year here, and didnt get much of a chance to prove himself. he put up 11 points and 3 assists per 36 minutes, clearly below average for an nba pg. he was 24 during that season.

now lets look at some other euros that came over to the nba, and how they did in their first season. (all stats are per 36 minutes) marc gasol got 14 & 8 as a 24 year old,, delfino posted 9-4-3 as a 22 year old, jerebko hot 12 & 9 as a 22 year old, omer asik had 8 points and 11 boards as a 24 year old. pek got 14 & 8 as a 25 year old, dragic got 12,5,5 as a 22 year old

obviously all of those guys other than v-span stuck around in the nba, and went on to have very good nba careers. but if any of them had bailed after that first year, went back to europe, we would look at them as failures, as we do with v-span.

im not neccessarily saying that if v-span had stuck around, he would be the same calibre player as those mentioned above, but i think he would have continued to adjust, and at the very least been a decent nba player.

in conclusion, i think v-span is a pretty talented player. his skills just dont fit well in the nba, and he didnt stick around long enough to adjust to the nba.

just like how a pretty talented player, in ty lawson went to europe, didnt adapt well, and looked very mediocre.

Therefore, ergo, Finland and Nigeria > USA and Spain

It's sad and pathetic how you keep mentioning a game 7 years ago and a game that had no meaning.

More recent relevant games
Greece getting eliminated by Nigeria last year
Greece losing to Italy, Finland and Slovenia and getting eliminated this year.

Spanoulis leading Greece has turned them into a joke on the international stage.
Spanoulis has shown the world with his horrible play that Euroleague players, even stars cannot compete with NBA players.

He is the biggest scurb of all time.

The "biggest scrub of all time" beat Team Steroids (USA) 101 - 95.

It's sad how USA, NBA, and NBA only fans will never get over that loss, where the 12 doped up "mega stars" got beat by the worst scrub of all time and 11 other scrubs from the scrub league in Europe.

The shame of that day and loss of Team USA is a day that will truly live forever in infamy.

I know you are psychologically scarred and permanently psychologically damaged from that horrible event and the shear horror of that loss that Team USA and the NBA will never live down, but there are medications out there that can help you.

You need to seek professional help. They can help you get over the PTSD that you so clearly are still suffering from that was caused by that defeat (the most embarrassing in the history of worldwide sports).

Oh and mentioning jokes on the worldwide stage..............even 50 years from now, USA, with 12 doped players, losing to Greece, will still be considered the biggest joke in the history of basketball.

Keep talking about a game 7 years ago. US still won bronze, Greece did not win gold, and Papalukas and Diamanties(sp?) where on the Greek team.

These days USA is winning gold and Greece is getting punked.

Manu was the 6th man on the Spurs for a reason. He had Duncan and Parker carrying him to win a couple of rings.

As for Pau, I said he's an exception. As good as he was during the Lakers run ('08-'10), he was never an MVP level player or a NBA "legend".

Noone is saying rubio was great in euroleague, this is where you completely ignore our reasoning, we are just arguing against your claims that he was a scrub, I haven't looked in a long time but if i recall correctly he played like 5 seasons or something in europe with 2-3 of those while he was under 18 didn't he? He wasn't considered a terrible player he was considered a young guy with some promise, he may not have shown it all but he wasn't a scrub and he wasn't one of the worst players like you claim.

Forgot about fernandez and didn't realise they matched up but rodriguez is a scrub. I've never said rubio is great and I actually remember some euro guys (possibly fiba) agreeing with me that you were over rating how bad he was, he wasn't terrible he was a young guy who showed some promise. He fits in much better in the NBA as it's more flashy and pick and roll orientated but he was far from a scrub and the worst player as you claim.

He was a rotation player on an NBA playoff team.

So he is an NBA level player, whether your lying trolling a$$ thinks so or not.

The exact same reason alot of euro players come to the NBA and struggle.

THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT LEAGUES, TWO DIFFERENT PLAYING STYLES.

If someone's good in one league it doesn't mean they'll be great in the other, someone may be the best ISO guy in the nba or the best pick and roll player but in the euroleague it's more about team ball, positioning and shot selection. Same works both ways though, someone may be great in the euroleague but struggle with the nba's pace and run and gun style. You also then have to factor in how long a player played in each league and how much time they had to adapt to it, where they playing in an offseason trying to work on something specific? Where they rehabbing an injury? Were they killing time in a lock out?

They could not even beat a freaking mid level team from the Belgian League (Mons).

Williams played in the 3rd tier European league, EuroChallenge, which is somewhere around the 12th to 15th best basketball league in Europe.

Even then, his best game of 50 points, is less than his best game in the "vastly superior NBA", where he scored 57 points.

You really think he has a link. He made this stuff up. When a result of a game he doesn't like he just says it is fixed (which of course he can't give links for) so when an NBA player plays 15 games in Europe and gets his jersey retired he has to make some conspiracy up. And isn't all jersey's retiring about marketing,.

There's usually some nugget of truth/comment made by someone that he's tweaked into being a big deal\taken as something it wasn't meant to be, that's why I thought maybe he donated money/offered to pay for a ceremony or something and it's been twisted.

Anyway, when they retired the number they talked about it on TV.

Besiktas owed Williams a $200,000 check when the NBA lockout ended. So Williams made a deal with the club that if they would retire his number, he would waive the $200,000 that the club owed him.

I used to have the link, but not now. It was in Turkish language.

Anyway, when they retired the number they talked about it on TV.

Besiktas owed Williams a $200,000 check when the NBA lockout ended. So Williams made a deal with the club that if they would retire his number, he would waive the $200,000 that the club owed him.

The club decided they would do it and that it was done for marketing reasons.

And just to set the record straight amidst all these trolls.........Besiktas was HEAVILY criticized throughout European sports media and fans when they did that.
That's a bullshit story until proven otherwise.

That's a bullshit story until proven otherwise.

It's the truth, even Besiktas fans didn't want his jersey reitred. I'm mean would you like it if some idoit decided to retire some players number who only played 2 months for your team and not even that great.

Oh look, the pathological lying Puerto Rican is back............

Now that Carlos Arroyo is actually playing the actual real Euroleague this next season, now we don't have to listen to all your endless trolling here about how, "if Arroyo did play in Euroleague, he would be the MVP, and lead his team to the championship" bullshit that you have talked here the last 2 years.

This next season, you lose that troll argument.

I only said an Euroleague coach said Arroyo was better than V-Span and provided links with facts. All you do is try to troll me and make me mad. You as bad as sliktheshocker but without the hilarious comments.

The same coach offered Spanoulis double what they pay Arroyo genius. Then signed Arroyo for half the money after Spanoulis rejected their offer.

I think you really need to STFU.

And Arroyo's team, Gala, has one of the biggest budgets and one of the deepest rosters in all of Europe. So just stop with the bullshit nonsense already.

It's really getting old.

Dude's been on this site for ages and hasn't been permanently banned for trolling and lying his ass off?

Everything he says are lies or fabrications. Made up bullshit. Euroleague is worse than MediaTakeOut and this is an insult to MediaTakeOut.

Spanoulis loses to Nigeria.

Spanoulis loses to Finland.

Team USA loses to Spanoulis and 11 other "Euroleague scrubs".

Spain and its "legit NBA rotation players" lose to Spanoulis and 11 other "Euroleague scrubs".

By that rule Ricky Rubio is the best PG in the world because he beat Los Angeles Lakers in Barcelona the year LA won the NBA.

You seriously compared a exhibition friendly to the Olympics/Qualifiers? Euroleague teams are just warm-up games for the NBA teams and anyone with a brain would agree.

I'm using his logic.

And you're debating like you debate with him, you're like a walking troll bait.

Kobe played 38 minutes and he was shut down 2/15 fg. Everyone tried pretty hard. But you go on about talking without even knowing prior to this post that said game even happened.

First off that's wrong Kobe only played 24 minutes

http://www.nba.com/games/20101007/LALBAR/gameinfo.html#nbaGIboxscore

And yes Kobe played and tried pretty hard out of respect to the Spanish fans who paid to see him play. But he was playing on one leg, if it was a normal exbition game or maybe even a regular season game he would not have played that many minutes. He only played 6 minutes and was held scoreless in a 19 point loss to the Timberwolves three days previous in London.

It says here that the coach already having Arroyo wanted to pair him with VSpan because he knows that Vspan can score but he sucks as a Point Guard. But because of money couldn't have Arroyo and Vspan on the same team.

BOOM Facts!!! Euroleague has been proven to be a liar people. Spread the news!!!!!!
