Well look it like this. Say there is a 4% chance you can get a girl pregnant by always doing the pull out method flawlessly. 4% chance happens all the time. If you do it wrong sometimes then your looking at about a 1 out of 4 chance every time you have sex that pregnancy could occur. If you don't want kids that is not the method to be using. And of course there is the factor that eventually guys just don't want to pull out.

I used to f*cking love NBA Live. All the way up until Jordan's Bulls were included in 2K. When that happened, I had to switch to 2K. Before that though, I rocked with Live. The graphics were amazing for the time (better than 2K), and I even liked the gameplay more than 2Ks.

I will be buying 2K14 for XBOX360, and then I'll probably pick up NBA Live 14 a few months later when the price drops.

I think it depends on what you want in a game. 2k looks good and has good animations, but if you are playing player vs player 5 vs 5, I think Live offers better control. Now, can they fix the game to where there aren't as many exploits? I don't know. But 2k 5 vs 5 is kind of a joke.

If you're only playing offline association then yea 2k is a no brainer. That being said, I don't think I'll be playing Live soon because I don't know when or if I'm getting a ps4.

Kind of crazy how 2K has sort of become the new Live. I mean that in terms of its name being synonymous with video game basketball, akin to Madden and football. 2K basketball almost felt underground for years. Even on this board, the popular consensus used to be all Live, all the time. I cannot believe 2K broke through that Live stranglehold (even before Live shot themselves in the foot).

That said, I've felt a little less drawn to 2K in recent years (see: 2K14 and 2K13) because it kind of feels like they've also taken over the title of "big brand basketball". A lot of their new features seem centered around an awful lot of non-NBA realism-related modes because they're trying to appeal to the online social masses (Crew, MyTeam, Future LeBron Mode, MyPlayer, Online).

All that said, I'm curious to see what the next generation looks like. I'm hoping they cover the stuff that's popular with the online group, but also get back to focusing on super realism as well.

Back in the olden days there was a basketball video game. back in the day when mario only went sideways and games were 2d with funny things like "blast processing"there was a basketball game and it was called NBA LIVE. And even though it sucked ass in retrospect and you couldn't even move it had real NBA player names! And real teams. Such, it was exciting. And it got better and better until, it started to drop off.

But then 2K came and we realized Live sucked and moved on. Well, most of us. Some still cling to that moment when they discovered video game NBA like it was a combination of winning an NBA title and losing their virginity all in one.

They just haven't kept up with the times. For whatever reason there games just doesn't animate well. They have hunch back player models that look like plastic.

The only thing live does well is make dribbling and their shoes/accessories look nice. Other than that they can't put together a realistic bball game 5 vs. 5. NBA live is stiff and robotic.

Ever since 2k came out on dreamcast, it's always been better with the exception of maybe 2004. Once PS3/Xbox 360 came out with 2k7 and there "Signature Styles", it was a wrap. Then 2k11 with Jordan and Bynum becoming Jesus, 2k threw dirt on live's grave.

And seeing Live's new trailer and comparing to the one 2k dropped at E3, I can already tell Live won't be able to catch 2k. They've allowed themselves to get too far behind.

Yeah that is my plan. I've bought NBA 2k every year since 2007. But this year I don't see much point. Unless they add some crazy new game mode that changes everything I'll probably give it a miss. GTA 5 and BF4 will be enough to hold me over until NBA 2k15.

Last year shooting and dribbling was totally different.

At this point you can come down do a give and go, fake the pass to the guy now cutting, drive to foul line, pump fake to get your man off his feet, and if you dont have a shot...throw it off the backboard to yourself run and get it and lay it up before you come back down.

You can do so much that just wasnt possible just a few years ago im amazed people just call the games roster updates.

Eventually it will be because you can only do so much more to make it realistic since its a cartoon that can never truly mimic a free flowing game.

While this is true, if you truly pull out it's almost as effective as a condom (in the 90%+ range). My wife and I have been together for over 8 years and we've used the pull out method for years and years and we've gotten pregnant once and that one time I didn't pull out.

On another note I probably won't get either. I used to be into 2K several years ago, but year after year it just becomes redundant over and over with a few minor changes here in and there. I'd rather keep my $50-$60. Plus I don't even own a console anymore.
