What are your 2013-14 NBA rookie of the year predictions?

Who will win, and why? But also, who will come in second and third?

Or, just rank your top 5 rookies. But with explanation.

Remember, opportunity for a real role and real minutes matters a ton. A talented rookie that gets no minutes isn't going to win.

I would rank Top 5 but there wouldn't be a point because we ALL know

1) KELLY OLYNYK
He can Score at will! Him and Rondo will be money He can shoot drive and Post moves that last for days. His D will be questionable but the dude is smart and will figure it out defensively by all star break and Boston playing him at the 4 is Genius. Hop on the wagon now boys because it's a wrap!

I dont think AB is going to have the ball in his hands enough to win ROY but i do think he is the most talented if not one of the most talented in the draft class.

I like Oladipo but i think he's been getting really overrated.

Mclemore has a good shot at getting it.

Depends on what method the Kings use on him if they throw him into the fire maybe, but Marcus Thornton is there and ready to take playing time away from him if they bring him along slowly.

I see Olapido taking it out, especially if the Magic continue to show improvement.

He's going to be able to come in and play D straight away, and will most likely be able to put up 10 points a night.

If he were not to win, I'd go with Mclemore.

I don't think 10 points a night plus good D from a guard equates to a ROY award.

porter and bennett are going to teams, that dont desperately need production from them right now, so they wont put up great stats.

my top 5 is
zeller
oladipo
kcp
burke
mclemore

zeller and kcp for the same kinda reasons, they are next to guys that should get them easy buckets. zeller should be able to work off of jefferson, and kcp is detroits only good shooter in their starting 5, so he should get some good looks.

it looks like the jazz trust burke, and will give him a lot of opportunity. i think hes a talented guy, and he'll figure out how to voercome his size/athleticism issues. john lucas III is the only other pg on the roster, so he should get plenty of PT.

oladipo should be a centerpiece too.

Michael Carter Williams
Reason: Playing time.

hes gonna have plenty of opportunity, but i think hes gonna be terrible, for at least his first coupel years.

he looked overwhelmed at times last year, and defenses are far more athletic in the nba.

what worries me about him, is that he doesnt really have anything to fall back on, no skill that he can be productive with.

he doesnt get all the way to the rim, he doesnt shoot it well, hes not very athletic . . .

i love tall pgs, so ill root for him, but im not optimistic.

I don't see any other rookie really doing any better than that. I like the rookie class this year because a lot of the players will be good role players, but as of now I don't really see any of these guys becoming stars.

Mclemore should be the leading scorer of the class with about 14-16 points a game.

Trey Burke is a strong possibility too.

Oladipo and Burke are basically 1a and 1b for me, mainly because of talent plus opportunity.

I don't know the draft class well at all, but after those two...

Anthony Bennett just because the Cavs need more scoring, and that's apparently what he's good at. It also helps to play with a great up and coming PG.

McLemore. My friend that does know rookies believes McLemore is the most likely one to be best in 3-5 years... so I'll go with him doing well, even though he's in Sac.

Olynyk (sp?). Dude balled in the Summer League, and while that's not necessarily indicative of success, it did show me that he has talent, and he'll have plenty of opportunity in Boston.

IMO i think you are really underestimating some of the other players in the class. If Ben mac averaged 15 a game on reasonable percentages he'll get it over the guy that averages 10 that plays D. Probably. I'd just be surprised to see them give a ROY award to a defensive guard. I don't think that's ever happened before.

Not sure they trust him but they're sure hoping he gets it together after trading up to get him that high. Clark, who unlike Burke actually played well in summer league, also on the roster. Burks also plays the point and they should be running the offense through Hayward the most. Two spots still open too.
