Defining "good" as having a consistent positive impact in helping your team win, Kobe Bryant is not as good as Duncan, Lebron, Wade, Howard, Paul, Dirk, Nash, Kidd, and probably some others I'm forgetting, just from his own generation, in terms of prime vs prime. Let alone throughout history. I don't think he's even close to top 20 all-time. He's a chucker and in terms of impact he's incredibly overrated. I'd take guys like McHale or Barkley over him in a heartbeat.

I've said this for a long time too. Al Pacino was great as usual. A little over the top, but still a top notch performance. But the film itself is eh. Definitely shouldn't be mentioned with the great gangster films.

Godfather 2 is my favorite film ever, but I can agree that the first GF was a bit pretentious. It's basically a flawless 10/10 movie and I could (and have) personally watch it an infinite amount of times from any point and be completely engrossed, but they did go over the top with romanticizing gangsters and the language was a bit overdone 'consigliere of mine', 'on this, the day of your daughter's wedding', etc. I think that's why I prefer number 2, they did away with a lot of the pretentious aspects of the first and showed more of the flawed characters that those guys in that life were.

People often misinterpret what having large sums of money means. They interpret it as just blowing it on material items to fill some void that the person has because of a lack of quality relationships, poor self esteem, or negative experiences in general. People will say material items will not fill that void. That's really not the point though... Being financially stable in this society can definitely bring anyone happiness almost immediately. The feeling and know-how of what financially stability entails = happiness

If being personally entertained by a film is how you judge its merit, than good for you. But that's not exactly scientific by any means. There are many more barometers such as acting, writing, directing, cinematography, story structure,etc. And the Godfather films weren't the first to showcase gangster life, you just (further) showcase your ignorance with a claim like that.

IMO that doesn't affect that quality negatively in any way, if anything it helps to differentiate it from the million other gangster flicks out there, creates a unique and (obviously) memorable film. I actually love the films you listed above, Scorsese is one of my favorite directors, Goodfellas is a certified classic and one of my personal faves, and Road to Perdition is a criminally (pun intended) underrated flick. I thought (and still think) there wasnt enough evidence to convict him of murder. I think there is reasonable doubt that he killed trayvon in cold blood. There is evidence supporting his claim that when he fired the shot that killed trayvon, trayvon was on top of him beating him.

Murderers not only end an innocent life prematurely, but they also DEVASTATE the people closely associated with this person.
