View Full Version : Are the Heat even BETTER this year ??

And yes Im back after taking a few months off from this place needing to recharge the battery. Anyway, the Heat kept the core together and lost one valuable role player but added 3 more guys who could contribute this year. Odon if he can stay healthy will be huge in its own right and make the heat unbeatable in a series but adding a scorer and talent like Beasley and a solid vet like Mason JR. IF Heat can stear in Beasley this was an absolute steal by Miami as he can be a valuable piece of the rotation. Mason JR also is a solid defender and a good spot up shooter if needed. Now those things are all bonuses and make the HEat even BETTER if they work out to some extent. The real reason Miami will be better is Lebron being unstoppable his physical and mental game meeting at its apex. A healthy and Hungry Dwade spurned on by the Durant comments. Also expect Bosh to play better than he did with fresh outlook this season. Finally, having the same core role players like Chalmers, Cole, Battier, Allen, Birdman is a huge factor as everyone already knows each others game. I fully expect the Heat to 3 peat this year and make it to its 4th straight NBA finals. The Nets creating a better team the Rose return the Evolution of the Pacers ect has made Miami hungry and focused for the task at hand.

no it is hard to want to and put in the effort to win 3 in a row. i think wade is pretty much done chasing championships. we seen how hard it was for them to win 2 in a row.

Considerably worse.

The leader of this team has no discipline and the team will collapse in the playoffs.

Do we just up and forget how mentally fragile this LeBron guy is? Something like that will never change. It's a part of his DNA and he can't fix it.

Another year together =more trust and better chemistry

But it's very wearing on the body to make it to 4 straight finals... I mean no team has played more games than the heat since the 2010-2011 season began...that said I think we have the will to make it back but we are gonna need wade to be wade in the playoffs to do so

I think Beasley can play a hug role to cut down some guys minutes in regular season mainly haslem and battier and Mason can keep Ray fresh and fill in if Wade needs a couple games off. If Odom is even 50% his old self and healthy the HEat will have the big body to bang with certain teams as well.

Don't know what'll happen this year, injuries will likely play a factor if heat 3peat. Wade will be another year older and Oden himself admits he isn't anything like the player he used to be. Beasly could be an x factor for them if he turns up to play. Their still favourites but with how they got pushed in last years play offs and finals I wouldn't say their as far ahead as they are made out to be by the media. Still gun to your head life or death bet you'd have to pick them to win.

Depends on Wade and Odens health. Miami won a title with Wade on one leg. If he can return to being a legit all-star payer they'll be much better. Oden being healthy would help fix the teams most glaring weakness. All about how these guys hold up come playoff time.

There probably wont be a 27 game winning streak this year. I dont think people can realistically expect this team to match that this year.

And i question if they can match the win total from last year because the east is a little stronger this year from returning injured players. but i expect them to be better cohesively and win the closer games because of even better chemistry.

Lebron has the confidence that it takes, he's better than say 4-5 years ago. His shooting and post-game have improved.

Wade seems determined to bounce back from injury. If everybody is healthy and Lebron plays to 90% of his abilities, they're the strongest team in the league.

Their motivation has always been questionable

If Wade is healthy, the Heat will be the favorites. It will be tough but when you have the best player in the world in his prime, you always have a fighting chance.

I think the most underrated part about the Heat is they have experienced three Game 7's, including one in the Finals last season.

That experience and chemistry + adding Beasley and Oden (a big if that he can even contribute), you have all the ingredients to be better and 3-Peat.

The Heat during the win streak were much better than the team in the postseason, mainly because of Wade's health. You can usually assume a team will improve every year with the same core. It's not that much different from last year, and the competition has gotten tougher. It's just a matter if Oden can stay healthy and if Beasely can keep it together, and live up to his potential finally. So I would say slightly better, but it's basically the same team. Hopefully the weight Wade lost will help him stay healthy.

Yes, they added personnel (if playing) on paper makes them better.

However, few teams in history have gone on to win 3 titles in 4 consecutive playoffs runs due to fatigue. There are some very hungry and capable teams in the Eastern Conference desperate to take them down...

SamuraiSWISH
10-08-2013, 12:42 AM
Getting to the championship for a 4th time will be extremely difficult. I don't even know the last time it was done. I think it was Russell's Celtics. It will be a mountain to climb for Miami to retain the mental strength, especially with such a passive team captain. It will be tough. Even if they didn't have the same rigors of an 82 game season in 2012.

Plus, this season will be their most difficult and trying year within their own conference since 2011. Bulls, Pacers, Nets will be a bitch to deal with. No major injuries and watered down comp this year. Heat skated by with an injured Wade, not facing even ONE 50+ win team in their conference during the playoffs. This year, barring injuries, their competition won't be near that pathetic. They need to bring their A game this year.

Who knows how much of a load Bron will be able to carry. Since 2011, including 2012's Olympics, LeBron has played 3 1/2 years straight of deep championship caliber basketball headed into the season. He said his legs are only at 80% right now, and he looked mad slow in this pre-season game.

Wade has slimmed down, but can you really count on him given his durability issues since 2011? Bosh may need to step up big time to save the Heat. Oden and Beasley can't be counted on to be healthy or produce at a real meaningful level yet given their history.

2013 - 2014 will be a real test for the Heat. Probably the biggest and most meaningful one they have yet. IMO, this season will be a true indicator of how good they are on an all-time standing level.

EnoughSaid
10-08-2013, 01:01 AM
With a healthy Wade, and guys like Oden and Beasley added on, yes they should definitely perform at a higher level. It still all comes down to the Big 3. If Bosh and Wade contribute the way they can, nobody is stopping this Heat team. Overall I think the biggest challenge will be Indiana, and I feel comfortable with Miami taking out the Nets or Bulls in 5-6 games. Nets are too slow of a team, and Chicago just won't generate enough offense in my opinion, even with a healthy Rose.

Umm, they don't have that kind of intense mental focus from their team leaders to have had their "foot on the gas" for an entire regular season, and maintain focus for the playoffs.

If they had that kind of focus and mentality, given their tools and talent. They should've been winning 62+ games every season the big three has been together. Even without chemistry and rapport. If they just played hard and were focused, this should've been a lock every season.

In their 3 season tenure, the only time they looked truly dominating was in the 2013 season. Particularly the 27 game stretch in February and March. Besides that, they have coasted in the regular season.

They should've won 60+ games in 2011. Should've won 60+ games in 2012 too, they weren't on the pace I believe to do that even.

But yea, they are going to have a '93 Bulls type regular season I believe if they're trying to conserve energy for yet their 4th championship run.

That was a lockout/compressed season. It was only 66 games.

Anyway to answer the question. The Heat could be better this year. It all depends on Wade's health and Bosh being more consistent. Especially in the playoffs.

Good enough to get dismantled by the Spurs

It takes serious DISCIPLINE to stay at the top like Bill Russell and MJ did. They were born with that hunger and drive. LeBron was only hungry when the media started telling him he HAS to. He thinks winning 2 will shut everyone up and he can relax and float off into the sunset with his 20 mistresses.

Clown ruined his shot at top 10.
