It seems as if defense is just a switch for the nets. they started the game playing great defense and built a 12-5 lead. They played like five stops of lock-down defense in the second half and had an 8-0 run. In the regular season the defense switch always needs to be on.

A couple of notes.

Dray it shooting to much.

We're not getting any easy shots ( not dunks), but actual open shots (threes specifically).

Combo of Paul and Joe look very, very awkward.

Anderson won't get a lick of playing time and its sad. Our second unit is shaun, terry, ak, evans and blatche. alan is just an insurance incase one of those players is injured. he's a great player though. i just hope he doesn't lose his confidence.

maybe i am wrong but i like seeing the end of bench/fringe guys that your team is taking a look at, being put into situations like this and seeing how they handle it. even if just one of these guys makes the final roster i think it's cool to see:confusedshrug:

point number four is the most crucial. every time joe had the ball he tried to rush his shot because he didn't want to take 10 seconds playing isolation ball. same thing with paul. both need to play to their strengths and set screens for each other. it's only game 1 though. it'll get better.

I think Terry will fill the role that Alan Anderson wasnt really able to fill tonight, and that is spot up shooter/ perimeter shot creator for the bench when the play breaks down. Once Deron comes back and Pierce and Johnson arent asked to dribble as much theyll look better, especially Peirce, because he was asked to do a lot tonight. Joe will have to learn how to adapt and play more calmly because I see him handling the ball a lot.

I'd like to see PP or JJ come off the bench. Either one of those guys can have their way against 2nd units, and the starting 5 doesn't need all that scoring. PP off the bench with Kirilenko starting seems like the ideal rotation. Probably won't happen though.

I agree with the transition three thing, until he is showing he's playing better he shouldn't take the rushed threes. Last year he'd come in, and fire on transition with no one underneath the hoop. Not only is it a bad shot because its rushed, it turns into a jailbreak for the other team.

A few people in this thread are talking like he's money from the outside, he was good yesterday, but for the majority of his time with the Nets hes been bad with his shooting being really off, Net fans are justified to want him to take better shots.

He's not a great shooter by any means. The guy shoots 39 and 34 which is awful for a so called "shooter". When he takes open 3s I got no problem, but when he takes these fadeaway 3s from almost half court, that's when I get pissed. Both turnovers and bad shots waste offensive possessions and give the other team a fast break opportunity. The only difference is that the player taking a bad shot took the bad shot knowing it would most likely hurt the team, while the player who turned the ball over most of the time just made a mistake. So yea, you're right, they are different, fadeaway 3s are worse.
