Magic Johnson.......3x, latest: 1989-1990
Kevin Johnson........2x, latest: 1990-1991
Michael Adams.......1x, latest: 1990-1991
Tim Hardaway........1x, latest: 1992-1993

Deron Williams.......1x, latest: 2010-2011

The 20 ppg, 10 apg mark has only been reached 21 times before in NBA history. It has been done by a grand total of 9 players. It is a surprisingly rare achievement. It's only been done by 2 players in the past 20 seasons. 30/10 has only been done 6 times- 5 by Oscar and 1 by Tiny.

Though it should be noted that Michael Adams did his while shooting 39.4% fg which pretty much means his 20+ ppg was useless.

Who will be the next player to reach this mark?

I think Westbrook could pull this off easily... Kyrie also

Peak Steve Nash could've reached those stats had he been a bit more selfish. He was definitely a good enough scorer for that. Could've passed up one or two assists, shot two or three more times per game and would've made it.

The list of players with more than 19 ppg and 9 apg is interesting too... It's not that much bigger. You add Jerry West (got REALLY close at 9.7 apg to go along with over 25 ppg), Bob Cousy, Mark Price, Lenny Wilkens, Damon Stoudemire.

Really puts in perspective how historically great Chris Paul's best seasons were, especially since going by advanced stats, he had the best seasons among those qualifying for the criteria other than Oscar Robertson's. (He also did it not just once but twice)

Michael Adams is the only one I didn't know.... don't even know that name, lol.

But I don't really see anyone doing it soon. Lots of players can, but considering 10apg is just about enough to lead the league now.... I don't see it happening.

Just glanced at Adam's stats. What changed in that one season?

I think that you'll see another 20 and 10 season from either Deron Williams or Chris Paul. However, the only young PGs in the league today that have the play making ability along with the scoring ability to eventually average 20 and 10 are John Wall and Jrue Holiday. Curry, Rose, Irving and Westbrook are too much of a chuck to actually average 10 assists. Maybe Westbrook has a chance considering he is the only ball handler on his team and he's playing with one of the greatest scorers of all-time.

Averging 10 apg isn't Westbrook's game at all, he's more like a 25-5-6 kinda guy in his prime if not playing alongside Durant

Look at the list, it's very exclusive. No way in hell is someone like Holiday or even Wall going to make it

It is exclusive, but those are the only 2 young guards that have shown that mix of play making and scoring. Who knows what they will do when they play on a real team.

Just glanced at Adam's stats. What changed in that one season?

Denver (or Enver really) hired Paul Westhead, they played no D whatsoever and were able to raise their pace by 9 even while being 2nd in terms of that in the previous season.

It was run-n-gun to the maximum and Michael was the PG, main ball-handler and the one playing most minutes. Then you got him averaging 26.5/10.5/3.9/2.2 on 39.4/29.6/87.9 (shooting 8.5 threes per game).

Denver was never known for defense in the 80s, and were always at the top in terms of pace, but from mid-to-late 80s they managed to improve their D while maintaining a great, fast-paced offense (for example, in 1988, 54-28 record, 6th best DRtg in the league).
In 1991 with Paul Westhead they had one of worst defensive seasons ever, and their offense also declined, finishing with a 20-62 record. Dudes like English and Lever gone as well.

Michael Adams could ball though, not a great player by any means but a nice one.

Why wouldn't Wall make it? He's an excellent scorer, and amazing & willing passer. He's probably the most likely to do it, to be honest.

Jordan probably could have done this too in 1989, when he averaged 32/8/8. If he had taken over the pg duties earlier in the year, he would've made it.

The most likely current players to enter the list imo is John Wall - but he's still got ways to go to translate his stats into winning basketball.

The reason I think it could be Wall is that other good point guards who've yet to do it are either scoring oriented (Parker, Rose, Westbrook, Irving, Curry) or passing oriented (Rondo, maybe Rubio in the future), unless their game/responsibilities change.
