You're in for a treat I think. Although there is only 70ish new ones this generation plus the mega evolutions.

Heartgold is pretty cheap now at gamestop if you want to revisit the past.

A shiny is basically one with different colors and occasionally one of it's stats is higher than the regular version. They're extremely, extremely rare.

I bought it! I already beat the first gym leader and I am on my way to Lumiose (to meet the professor) city. I chose the fire fox pokemon and I am on my way to breed pikachus so I can get a pichu with the nature I want.

I think I found a shiny pidgey but I killed it because I wasn't paying much attention...

I'm to the 1st gym and I have 10 Pokemon so far. It feels about the same as it used to but obviously looks way better. I've yet to see the breeding stuff or all the new things from the last few gens that I haven't experienced.

This one feels way way easier to level up than b&w did. Which is good, because I felt b&w were a bit too tough.

But I already have 3 level 20+ pokemon, 2 18s, and pikachu at 16, all before the second gym. :lol

I think you can do that when you either arrive at the first pokemon center or you have the pokedex. In all you can battle anywhere so I will not be surprised if you could battle after getting the first pkmn. I started online battling after I capture some pkmn.

EXP share is amazing. I can just level up these starter scrubs that I won't use until they're evolved and not even have to switch them in. I've got a 24 Combusken, 22 Frogadier and a bunch of 15-16 Pikachu, Ivysaur, Skitty, Fletchling and a bunch others. Really enjoying it so far but I'm pissed at myself for killing a wild Kadabra :facepalm . Allakazam is probably my favorite pokemon ever and I haven't seen an Abra or Kadabra since.

I did a similar thing. Had a pokemon out with mean look, forgot to ****ing use it and just threw a great ball, didn't even come close to catching the Abra.:facepalm

That's not good. All those types are weak against Psychic/Ghost? I don't know type matches outside of Fire > Grass, Water > Fire and the basic lol.

You have to have a pokemon that could take on Psychic/Ghost types, because those types are usually the most dangerous, especially if they have alakazam (1 hit KO type of pokemon) So either have a good tank pokemon (lots of health and defense) that has "bite" or find a good psychic/ghost pokemon :cheers:

This is mainly knowledge from playing older pokemons, not sure with this new generation :D

Did a wonder trade, was excited because I got a Solosis. Nice little psychic type, and it's even at level 23 which is solid. Then I find out it's nicknamed in Japanese :(

Breeding/eggs is pretty cool stuff. But people take it to extremes and want the baby pokemon that's produced to have a certain personality and be able to learn certain attacks that it normally wouldn't because of what one of its parents is. Breeding is cool because you can get other starters if you have trade parners.

From what I gather yeah, and if you share them they get more powerful. But I don't know how to apply them only give them.

It's nowhere near as nice as a XL. The only way i can see this is if you pick up the XL and it feels awkward, pick up the 2DS and see if it suits you. (I don't mean by, i mean literally pick up and hold.)

Got a friend to give me an Electrike because I had no lightning pokemon and it's a Y exclusive but damn does it kook goofy. I also wasted my time leveling a Riolu and I got a free Lucario :lol. Had my 1st mega evolution. Pretty neat.

I agree, more so the white one. I bought the black & blue one. It's extremely comfortable. I agree the design isn't the greatest but I am happy with my purchase, especially for a new console $130 out the door as opposed to buying a used 3ds for 150 (unless you find a shit hot deal on craigslist).

Because I can get scrubs back that are low level. I list pokemon on the GTS often. I've already made like 7 trades on it and it's much more worthwhile. I actually get what I want back and close to or the same level. But I used the Wonder trade a ton when I 1st discovered it.

I beat it last night. It was an amazing game. I felt it was very easy though. I flew through the Elite 4 in one go with little trouble. In fact, the only time I ever lost a battle is when I discovered what a sky battle was. It was worth the hype for sure.

Just beat the game, the blaziken from the mystery gift is pretty much broken, plow through the game with mainly him and was lv 92 after clearing the final boss. Rest of party was around 70.

Best HM slave in the game is Hawlucha, can learn strength, cut, fly, rock smash.

In all fairness you don't need cut or rock smash to the beat the game.

I'd love a Fennekin and a Squirtle. I have a Greninja, Chesnaught, Venusaur and Charizard. And yes the Torchic from the mystery gift is ridiculous. I'm through 7 gyms and it's 72 and pretty much 1 shots everything. I have a few others in the high 60s (Garchomp, Greninja) but none of them compare. I only really use Blaziken, Xerneas now that I caught it and Garchomp (False swipe). Garchomp is my designated pokemon catcher though since it's almost 70. I'll eventually go back and catch anything I missed since he can't kill them with that move.
