For me its 2010 Celtics. Mediocre Regular Season, but they played incredible that Post Season.

2004 Lakers/Spurs.

2004 Lakers. Incredible cast of players that couldn't mesh well together got outshined by a team without a superstar.

2011 Heat.

3 top ten players in their prime couldn't get it done.

Still have vivid nightmares about that series and the way LeBron crumbled. Shit traumatized me.

Two Lakers teams take the cake: '04 and '69, the worst flop being Wilt's, Jerry West and Baylor's team.

I think so. :confusedshrug: Really, any version of the Big 3 era Heat were/are better than any Thunder teams.

Westbrook- Elite Slasher, good pull up jump shooter
Thabo- Elite Defender, decent 3 point shooter
Durant- Elite Scorer, amazing length
Ibaka- Elite Shot-blocker
Perkins- Good paint protector

Harden- Good scorer, slasher, and creator.

How did this team not win it all?

Mike Bibby and Joel Anthony

vs.

Russell Westbrook and Kendrick Perkins

would be the PG and C matchup.

Shouldn't OKC fans take pride into this, it is the closest Durant will get to a NBA Championship. Funny thing is, OKC fans KNOW that was the closest Durant will ever get to a ring.

'68 76ers who were clearly the best team in the league, but were just devastated with injuries in the post-season (and were still able to get to a game seven in the EDF's, four point loss with half of their key players injured or completely out.) A healthy '68 squad would surely have repeated their rout of Boston by their '67 team, and easily won their second straight title.

'84 Lakers who should have SWEPT Boston in the Finals (even Bird admitted as much), but who gave away TWO of the first four games. Of course they easily beat Boston the next year, and then routed them in '87.

No real difference between perkins and joel. Perkins sucks just as much.

And 25+/5/5 Dwayne Wade and Thabo Sefolosha would be just as big a mismatch as Westbrook and Bibby. Then you have a Lebron James over Kevin Durant by a decent amount and 19/9 Bosh over Ibaka. Its really not even close..

Oh no, 23 year old Durant couldn't win the title vs 27 year old LeBron with the refs sucking his ****.

Go back and watch that series. Anytime MIA got on a run it was because refs took Durant out of the game. KD got fouled on a game tying shot with the ref inches away. It was Dan Crawford who suxed Wades cox in 2006

Durant still played better in that 1 finals series than LeBron has in any series outside of that series.

Put KD on MIA these past 3 years and MIA has 3 titles

The best I've seen, in order from best to worst, I left out all the terrible Finals losers in the past 20 or so years:

'93 Suns
'92 Blazers
'94 Knicks
'95 Magic
'96 Sonics

'97 Jazz
2011 Heat
'91 Lakers
2000 Pacers
2010 Celtics

2004 Lakers
2012 Thunder
2008 Lakers
2005 Pistons
2013 Spurs

2006 Mavericks

Easily the 2011 Heat.

Not even close. They had no center, no chemistry because it was their first season together, and had no depth and had garbage starting outside of the big 3 like big z and bibby. To reach the finals in their first year was impressive.

2004 LA easily.

No.

Not when your best player is 36, and never could or had the ability to close out basketball games.

See why they gave up that huge lead in LA. No alpha closer to be seen.

'96 Sonics. 64-18 with DPOY Payton, double-double Kemp, Hawkins, Schrempf, Sam Perkins. Filthy team. George Karl should have put Payton on MJ from the very beginning. They won 2 of the 3 games Payton guarded Jordan for the entire game.

Reading the thread title I instantly thought of the 1988 Pistons. I didn't watch basketball at the time but I did watch several games and they came incredibly close playing against a stacked team.

As for teams I watched at the time... the 00 Blazers, 02 Kings, 05 Pistons, 10 Celtics and 13 Spurs. Ironically, the 06 Mavs don't belong on that list even though they should have won the championship and probably would've won that series 8/10 times. I don't count teams like the 04 Lakers and 11 Heat either because they had obvious chemistry issues, I judge teams by how they are actually playing.

no pun intended

Since I started to watch...

2000 Blazers
2002 Kings
2004 Lakers
2005 Pistons
2005 Heat (they were even better than 2011 Heat)
2009 Celtics
2011 Heat

Actually 2004 Lakers weren't on par with the other listed ones. The names they had deserves to be remembered. Otherwise their game wasn't that special.

But the correct answer would be a team from the '80s probably. I've watched almost every Finals games in the '80s but it wouldn't be reliable if I have an opinion about them based on just one series.
