the birthers were a pretty loud and significant part of the Obama critiques during his election race...

and Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, and so on have been huge influences in politics and impediment to Democrats with all of their misinformation/misdirection they preach for years now. They've been a bigger hindrance actually than moderate Republcans, who have more or less been lame ducks of the Republican party, just like when Michael Steele was their head.
