After choking his coach, he helped lead the Knicks to the NBA Finals and also made a few more All Star teams.
With the T-Wolves, he had already been in the league about 13-14 seasons, he was on his way out anyway.
what happend to nick thou.. i mean, he was a reliable FT shooter.. but his mind just completely went blank i guess.

It happens. Remember when Arenas missed those two, and he's super clutch.
I've seen Ray Allen, Reg Miller, Nash, all missed free throws down the stretch before.

Rudy Tomjanovich getting punched by Kermit Washington in 1978:

He did make one more all-star appearance the following season, but he retired in 1981 at age 32.

Nick missed not 2 in a row, which he only needed 1 to ice game 1 of the 95 Finals. He got his own rebound and got fouled again and again proceeded to miss 2 again. He had 4 chances to ice the game and blew them all.
Shaq left after the following season. Its like Orlando never recovered from those 4 FTs.
Something like that wouldnt destroy elite players like Ray, Reggie, or Nash. But something like that can destroy role players forever.

Pippen, refusing refusing to enter the game in the final seconds of Game 3 vs the Knicks in the ECSF. That really hurt his image, and his detractors loved to bring that up as proof of him not being dependable in the clutch.

(in my opinion, it's this play alone which has led people to anoint Olajuwon as the clear cut best center of the 90s and diminish Robinson's dominance)
And since we're speaking of the Magic:

@bout practice,
indeed
picture of admiral sitting on the bench after getting demolished by dream forever tarnished his rep
if you looked at his accolades until that point, you'd think that this is a guy who would arguably be called the greatest center ever...or in the convo..
Olajuwon forever changed the way david robinson was viewed..........

No, it would not have done "wonders for his overall perception".
He had already refused to come off the bench in Detroit and Memphis and been exiled to Turkey. There was never any chance of him going to the d-league.
