According to TMZ, Odom has been working on a return with his former employer, the Los Angeles Lakers:

Our sources tell us Lamar met with Laker execs Monday afternoon to discuss terms of a possible return. We're told things went well -- though nothing's been signed -- and that Lamar's first choice has always been to return to the Lakers.

I would love to have Odom back, he's one of those players that can just flat out play.

They both are desperate.

If he could play, why didn't the Clips bring him back?
Lakers are filled with old geezers or d-leaguers.

Meh, key factor is....Kobe....There was no Kobe on the Mavs or Clippers, thats why LO fell off and wasn't getting overrated nemore. Playing with Kobe, he's sure to get better and overrated again. This forum barely mentioned Gasol before he played with Kobe....0-16 in the playoffs without Kobe. Get on Kobe's squad, 2 Titles.

Come home Lamar.:applause:

no pun intended

Because Odom loves the Lakers more than any other team he has ever played with or will play with. He's a clingy son of a bitch, and hopefully we get to see him return to his original form if he does decide to come back. Odom is the prodigal son.

A depressed, borderline drug addict, overweight Odom is still NBA level talent at 33 years old. He can play.

His severe decline over the last few years is due to mental issues, and the Lakers will help there. The question is whether or not he can get back to being the versatile contributor that he used to be. And that's where the drug question comes in. Signing him could be a good thing, especially with the possibility of redemption for Odom. But only sign him to a deal if it's partially guaranteed. Don't just give him a few million dollars that he gets no matter what he does, and get as much mental health assurance as possible that he is reasonably clean and you have a plan in place that will keep him clean.

they should sign him. It's a win win IMO.

LO is just one of those players that has talent. He can handle the ball, has a nose for rebounding, can shoot and score in many different ways.

but he had all of these things in dallas and that didnt work out.

and his personal issues have only gotten worse since then.

i wish him the best, he seems like a sweet guy, but i would be surprised if he has anything left in the tank.

I'm excited that we are potentially going to sign an over-the-hill crackhead. Yep, that sums up life as a Lakers fan right now. :oldlol:

When did TMZ become a reliable source :lol

If the Lakers did talk to Odom it certainly wasn't a discussion about his playing for the Lakers. Probably just reaching out to him during this rough patch he's going through.

Wait, is the crack stories about Lamar true? I thought that was just gossip and rumors. Any actual evidence?

I would love him back on the Lakers he would fit perfectly next to alongside Gasol or Kaman.

That's because Gasol's team sucked. It has nothing to do with being on Kobe's team. He didn't become a better player. He just went to a better team

strange, it doesn't seem like he cares about basketball much anymore. Probably needs the money or misses the spotlight, positive spotlight

The Lakers should bring Lamar Odom back. It's better than filling out the roster with scrubs. Kobe, Gasol, Odom trio back during that 2 peat was one of the best trios ever assembled in basketball. Why not bring it back for one last shot?

PG: Steve Nash | Jordan Farmar | Steve Blake
SG: Kobe Bryant | Xavier Henry | Jodie Meeks
SF: Wesley Johnson | Nick Young
PF: Lamar Odom | Jordan Hill | Ryan Kelly | Elias Harris
C: Pau Gasol | Chris Kaman | Robert Sacre

That's not much different than the team that won them a title back in 08-09 (Ariza/Artest in place of Wesley Johnson, Nash an upgrade over Fisher and a much deeper bench unit). Granted all of the core guys are older now. I still think they'd have a great shot, if healthy come playoffs time.

If he returns and is even close to being as good as he was before he left LA it helps them.

It just seems like when ousted from the Lakers he didn't want to play for anyone else.
