Hah, Robert Pera actually occasionally goes to a local gym in my area. I've heard he's really good

/jealous

The Apple hardware engineer turned wireless networking entrepreneur went out on his own in 2005 with the goal of bringing affordable internet access to the world's emerging markets. Says Pera, "Apple's a great company, but I realized I wanted to have more success faster."Six years later, at age 34, Pera became a billionaire when his Ubiquiti Networks went public in October 2011

So jealous...

I wouldn't pay to watch it, but I would watch it if it were televised. So in a round-about away, that's paying, I guess...

But Pera would have to be an incredibly good baller, and rather tall, to have even a fighting chance against Jordan. If Pera is 35, as another poster mentioned, then it's not like he really has youth and athleticism on his side.

In this particular matchup, I don't even have to watch Pera play to deduce that Jordan would dominate him. Dude owns a team, rather than plays for a team, for a reason.

In terms of players currently in the league, Jordan could probably still beat a decent amount of the backups if it was make it, take it and he got the ball first.

As expected Jordan is too scared to ball

[QUOTE]Hours removed from the owner of the Memphis Grizzlies challenging Michael Jordan to a charity one-on-one game, MJ had a response:
"Comical."
If new Grizzlies owner Robert Pera wants to play one-on-one for $1 million to charity (as he said on Twitter), Jordan won

"I think that’s comical," Jordan said. "It didn’t make any sense. Why would I play one one-on-one? It’s a no-win situation for me no matter what."
I don't see how that's a no win situation.

Jordan wins? Pera has to spend $1 mil, although not very much to Pera, to charity. He gets to appeal to his fans, while showcasing his plethora of skills.

it's a no-win situation for MJ. if he doesn't accept the challenge, he'll be called chicken. if he accepts and he wins, so what? he beat a nobody. if he accepts and he loses, he'll never live it down.

If MJ wanted to donate to charity that bad enough, he'd put up his own money.

Grizzlies owner insults Jordan's game and follows it up by telling Jordan to check the scoreboard of life

MJ = Hall of Fame Legend. Will be remembered forever.

Grizz owner = No one even knew this dude's name until this little stunt.

Now, who won at life, bitch?

That's what he's doing and I'm tempted to call him chicken. The win is the 1 mill for charity, and to show that he can still ball. If he didn't take it seriously, he could say that.. if he did take it seriously, he could pretend he didn't take it seriously.

Either way.. a win win. :D

Seriously though.. he should have just laughed or something. He really does sound chicken. And people in here.. already trashing Pera and talking about how he's GOAT or HOF.

It got serious.. and who cares if Jordan lost.. he's 50?

Maybe Pera should play Brain Scalabrine. I'm sure he wouldn't be too scared to beat some no name owner.

I think it's cool if any owners can ball at all. They are typically grey haired fat guys in suits.

The owner could spend a billion dollars of his fortune to publicize his name and still be worth 5-6 times more than Michael Jordan.

Didn't MJ just obliterate their number 1 draft pick in ONE v ONE last year?

i think if Pera put out a better wager, MJ would bite.

Pera should put Marc Gasol on the table. MJ wins, Bobcats gets Gasol. MJ loses, MJ donates 1m to charity.

This is the same MJ that's supposedly schooling NBA level talent in Bobcats practices.

Can't imagine how afraid of a non-pro baller he really is.
