Only cause he's injured i'm guessing.

I definitely don't agree with that and I'm not a Kobe fan by any means...If he plays like he did last season, he's still top 5 for me...

1)ranking by a specific number is stupid and pointless
2)he is an unknown because he's coming off a serious injury and he's in the latter stage of his career

He's injured and old.

Last year, based off his play, he was top 5.

I'd love to see ESPN rank an injured LeBron in 4 years 25th overall.

ESPN disrespects Kobe and they suck LeBrons dick. They said this list is based purely on what their production will be next year. Yet how much you wanna bet they have LeBron #1 despite them predicting KD to have a better year than LeBron with their fantasy predictions. And also to have a better year because his stats will inflate with Russ's injury.

It's just typical BSPN. They have 0 consistency in their sports coverage and 0 credibility at this point.

They ranked Kobe Byrant and Dirk Nowitzki in a virtual tie with Damian Lillard. :lol :lol

ESPN is a gossip sports entertainment website, mostly stupid shit to create traffic like their advanced stats based lists.

Better fantasy stats does not mean he is the better player.

There's really no way to know. It's not just a normal season for this guy.

Definitely disagree. He has to be in the top 10 or at least 15. A 20-25ppg, 4-5apg, and 4-5rpg season is already expected even though he's coming off injury. 24 players couldn't possibly be ahead of that stat line.

ESPN.com and the TrueHoop Network are ranking every NBA player for the third straight year -- and counting them down on Twitter (@ESPNNBA), from No. 500 to No. 1.

This year, we asked our ESPN Forecast panel to predict the overall level of play for each player for the upcoming NBA season.
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9830816/2013-nba-player-rankings-21-25

looking at the criteria and Kobe coming off a big time injury with questions about when and how he'll play I'd say it's about right

This is just ESPN bro. They ride the d*ck of whoever's hot at the time. Throughout the years, they've been riding Kobe's dick...overrating the hell out of him and now since he's older and injured, they've hopped on the Lebron bandwagon...

Good ranking for Kobe. Kobe is the worst defensive player in the NBA these days. And his scoring is so so , not all that like Durants or Lebrons. Also are people forgetting that the 2012 lakers were the biggest disappointment in NBA history? 8th seed with that loaded cast????

doesn't matter. rankings don't mean sh1t. Kobe will come back, have an outstanding season and make them look like idiots. :confusedshrug:

Kinda surprised to see this, as well Dirk, Rondo, and Lopez right behind him. Is there really 24 players better then all 4 of those guys?

It's more troubling to me that Dirk is ranked so low. Dirk is healthy. Kobe is not. Yet Dirk is ranked behind Kobe? When he's a superstar in his own right? Nope. ESPN definitely dropped the ball on Dirk.

And for everyone talking about Kobe's scoring, or stat line... he's a defensive sieve. Doesn't even try. That factors in to their scoring system.

There is no way any sane person would rather have Bosh than Kobe/Dirk in a game

No ****ing way.

Dirk is healthy right now and was at the end of last year. And he's easily better than Bosh. Kobe and Dirk are at least top 15 players if they are on the court.

Agreed. I'd take even an injured Dirk over Bosh.

With the whole Kobe thing, dude is coming off a serious injury and Old, so I understand the low rankings. No big deal.

My only issue with factoring in the injury is that Rose didn't get any drop in his ranking last year after his ACL tear. Maybe they just learned their lesson.

Didn't ESPN rank him 7th last year? And then Kobe proceeded to take a steaming shit on their rankings and play like a top 5 player.

And how the hell is a healthy Dirk ranked under injured Kobe? I'm surprised there isn't outrage over Dirk's ranking. I expect him to have a solid bounce back year.

Especially since German's are supposed to be super humans.

#25? This is going to do nothing but motivate Kobe even more.

What a joke.

If they really wanted to be accurate, they could have not ranked him and given him an asterick since he is hurt - since no one really knows when or what his game will be like when he comes back.

Otherwise, based on last year's play, he's top 2 behind only LeBron James.

Wait I just saw the rest of the rankings  why the hell is Bosh ranked higher than Dirk and Kobe?  how the hell are Noah and Hibbert ranked higher than these guys.... ESPN has been smoking that good stuff.
