All jokes aside, Lebron and Kobe are just different players. Like Lebron said, they're different type of hunters. When you need a closer to close the 4th quarter or you need that one basket, it's Kobe. But Lebron is the type of player that would play so great throughout the game that it wouldn't get to that point.

Both killers. Just different types of killers.

I don't even like Lebron but he passed the ball to the open man. You could argue that Haslem isn't the best player in this situation but he was open. I can guarantee you if KD would have done this pass everybody would be talking about how great that play was and how smart KD is.

KD would score the ball on both of those ****** trying to guard him. He wouldn't pass it off to a bench scrub who had 4 points on the night

KD has 5 game winning shots in these last 2 playoff runs alone. You don't hear about it because the media doesn't suck his **** trying to force a false narrative.

For a final shot? Of course you don't take LeBron. Players like KD, Dirk, Kyrie, Melo, Kobe, Paul, hell for a final shot I'd pick Rudy Gay or Jamal Crawford over him as well. I trust LeBron would make the right plays before the final two minutes of a pressure packed game. He's too frightened by the possibility of failure. It's obviously one of the few unreliable parts of his game.

Look im not trying to hate on KD but i'm sure there will be atleast one game where he passed up the last shot to an open man. The difference is that Lebron is so over analyzed that every little mistake is being blown out of proportion instantly. It was just a RS game against the Jazz.

In the final minutes of a game, you want to have LeBron on your team more than you want to have most players commonly called 'clutch'. But for the final shot, you definitely trust a Dirk, Durant, or Melo before him (and Kobe, but for a different reason: Kobe is too predictable in those situations and thus easy to bait into a horrible shot, whereas LeBron's problem is that he doesn't look like he truly wants to take the shot)

Thanks man. It's perception vs reality. Even the article said...

"According to ESPN Stats & Information, James actually is a better shooter from the field than Bryant on game-tying or go-ahead field goals in the final 24 seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime of postseason games. He checks in at 41.2 percent (7-for-17), while Bryant is at 25 percent (7-for-28). Jordan rules that stat, though, at 50 percent (9-for-18)."

all these stats and polls are so lame.

if you want to see how a player finishes the game, watch the last 2 minutes... that will tell you more than the last possession.

and if you want to decide who you'd like to shoot the last shot, watch how players have responded and performed, don't read stats.

I would take either Jordan or Kobe over LeBron as well, not based on stats, but because I've seen both players come through so many times, I would never question handing them the ball. LeBron, I wouldn't trust in that situation, just by watching the way he plays. He's more of a game manager, much like Magic, who I also wouldn't take over Jordan or Kobe, and Magic's my favorite player of all time.

Not sure how the results of this poll are ignorant at all. I consider myself a pretty knowledgeable and unbiased NBA fan and I would take Jordan then Kobe then Lebron also for the final shot.

The poll should be 100% Jordan also. Everyone should take Jordan for the final shot, always.

+1

When Kobe is in the game and a final shot must be taken, you know that Kobe will be handling the ball, and 9 of 10 times, he will be jacking that shot up (for better or worse). You know who to double or triple team in that situation.

And, yes, Kobe has not been as clutch that past several years.

The players were polled. That doesn't make it a statistical fact that he would be the better choice, it just means that MJ and Kobe are the players that 26 other NBA players would choose to take the shot. It's not the entire league. It would be nice to know who exactly was polled too. It also doesn't have them say why they feel that way. Maybe it's because they know those two wouldn't shrink away from that role and they are OK with being the guy that wins or loses the game when it's on the line. It's just their opinion. Nothing more and nothing less. If they polled 26 other players, the results might be significantly different.

Statistics don't lie about what happened, but they don't always get interpreted properly because there are circumstances that simply can't be accounted for with a simple statistic.

Honestly, I won't be surprised to see LBJ try to be more like that than he has in the past. He's a two time champion and he doesn't need to prove he's a winner any longer. He just needs to go about the business of doing his best and letting the chips fall where they may. If he clanks a potential game winner, so f*****g what?

Again why were you scared to provide a link?
Some anonymous confidential survey by ESPN logic (same thing kobe f@gs were bitching about when Kobe is ranked 25th)

WHEN OUR Confidential team recently surveyed 26 NBA players, we promised them anonymity in exchange for their true feelings on King James. The conflicted responses we received are summarized by this Eastern Conference star: "I love LeBron; he's a nice guy and a great player. But I also get why people dislike him. He showed no loyalty to Cleveland, and The Decision was just a terrible idea. So, uh, I don't know what to think."

Seriously what does his loyalty and the decision have to do with him making the last shot? Nothing but BS and there are plenty of retard losers in the NBA that can't even crack the starting line up that could have answered this survey. The fact they they won't name these guys just shows you how retarded that picture and survey is.

Let the facts speak for themselves.

Last 24 sec in game tying or winning. Cool well searched out stat. Wat about last 23sec? Wat about last 5 sec? Wat about wen It's hot outside yet windy?

Wat about when ur team is down by 5, and Kobe hits 2 three's to take the lead and It's 2:15 left on the game clock and the opposing coach calls timeout. Shot basically breaking the other teams mental will and Lakers end up winning by 10?

Kobe's 17yr career killer instinct wasn't just magically created. Those who have watched games over the years have seen Kobe making multiple shots to put his team back in the game or ahead. People who watched the games have seen a team making a run at the Lakers and is only down by 3 with 46sec left only to see Kobe hit 2 back breaking jumpers to kill the other teams hope.

Killer Instinct can be shown (and has been shown) in more ways then final 24sec in post season in game tying or go ahead situations.

These numbers for a 17yr career doesn't change wat I've seen, GMs seen, coaches seen, and even fellow players seen from Kobe.

Posting nitpicked numbers won't change reality. Neither will anti Kobe posters behind a computer posting on a forum.

24 seconds is basically an entire possession. That's why they used it. 23, 5, 2:15, etc. are not.

I would take MJ over Lebron as well (who wouldn't?). Kobe and Lebron are a wash (a 5% edge to Kobe probably). People say that Kobe is a clutch god and what not, but they seem to forget that he's the one who usually goes 5-20 or 8-30 in the first 4 quarters to put his team in a situation, which requires a comeback. Kobe does have 28 or how many ever game winners, but on how many attempts? The notion that Lebron is not clutch is absolutely stupid and ridiculous. We've seen him hit ~20 game winners over his 10 year career. He even had a game winner in the playoffs last year and two super clutch shots in Games 6 & 7.

As a Laker fan who watches the games, yes Kobe has alot of bad shooting efforts, but all his "8-20" games doesnt come from him shooting LA out of games. There's tons of games where his teammates just show lack of will due to soft mentality. They get down by some points, thus Kobe trying to force shots to get us back in games. Thus those results.

When the whole team comes to play? You generally see a Laker blowout victory with Kobe's numbers being basically 10-17 for 27pts. I'll admit, some other games Lakers could be down 8, and Kobe hits 2 straight long jumpers, then he feels like he's hot and launches 4 consecutive bricks totally ignoring teammates. It happens, MJ has done this too.

But alot of his awful games comes from him trying to shoot LA back into games when his teammates clearly aren't giving the best effort. Perfecto example was that 39pt loss to Celtics in the Finals. Gasol and Bynum was punked right after the tip by KG and Leon Powe.

Basically, alot of context should be shown when discussing nitpicked numbers. Just like more goes into killer instinct than just nitpicked numbers show.

Again, the obvious world wide praise that Kobe gets from his peers isn't just some created BS, or a story they read from a book. They witnessed it like me.

Also, LeBron does not have 20 career gamewinners. I think It's closer to 12. But I'll concede this if you show me video footage. (Which he will have because he's LeBron and has a following and just like Kobe, every big thing he does gets placed on a media outlet)

Along with his GW percentage, ppg output and overall clutch efficiency dropping drastically from Cleveland to Miami.. Look at his 3 pt shooting..

From 42% and 32% shooting in CLE to 23% 27% and 28% in MIA. His jumper has become visibly shook ever since he mounted all that pressure upon himself. In CLE it was carefree clutch scoring dominance.. now it has dropped off.

And last year Kobe was better in the clutch than King James.. so players have it right here.

I never said Kobe isn't clutch. In fact I actually said that he might edge out Lebron slightly on the clutch factor. Comparing him to MJ is a bit ridiculous though.

Can you post the number of shots he took? From the 2's and 3's? The GW% and PPG OP drop can be attributed to sharing the ball with Wade, Bosh, and Allen in clutch situations.

Reword it. Which of these players is most likely to need a game winning shot?

Lebron hit jumpers in the Finals to seal games vs the Spurs. Kobe shot 6-24 in game 7.

That poll means nothing. You do realize that a vote for Kobe means they chose him over MJ too, which to mean signifies those 10 percent are Kobe stans. The people that vote for MJ are saying they pick MJ over Kobe and Lebron.

This looks bad for both Kobe and Lebron if we're comparing both of them to MJ.

It's not some breaking news that the NBA players are pretty much ignorant about their own game.

Majority of them does not watch the games, 99% of them knows nothing about statistics. Kobe's myth is all about falsely created public perception.

What do all clutch players have in common.

Hint: It's a mid range shot.

You can take away the 3 if you want or you can pack the paint to stop a layup but you can't take away the mid range shot.

Like 4 of these LeBron baskets they are counting as clutch shots were easy layups vs the Pistons and Wizards. And then the layup vs the Pacers last year.

The only actual "shot" is the one he had vs the Magic way back when.

Using these stats to determine clutch is retarded. It's the equivalent of calling Tony Romo clutch based off of his clutch stats.

NEW YORK -- LeBron James was dismissive Wednesday about a poll in this week's ESPN the Magazine where 26 of his NBA peers said they wouldn't want him taking the final shot in a game where Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant were also on the floor.

"Players in our league said that? All right," James said after the Miami Heat went through a workout in New York City before their exhibition game Thursday in Brooklyn.

Why is it always Jordan, Kobe & Lebron in these clutch talks? I would take for example Bird or Reggie all day when it comes down to the last shot... you would be lying to yourself if you think any of those three would outshoot Bird from anywhere & any situation especially in clutch time....

Today i would go with Ray Allen or Durant... because at the end of the day its as simple as who is the most accurate shooter....

All this bickering for nothing. And so many conclusions being made off of tiny sample sizes spanning over more than a decade. Neither Kobe nor Lebron are great at game winners %-wise

Kobe career regular season: 46/145 = 31.7%
Lebron career regular season: 26/89 = 29%

Combined playoffs/reg season Kobe: 30.8%
Combined playoffs/reg season Lebron: 31.1%

There's so much variance with these stats. Majority of people think Miami Lebron is his best version but he's 6/22 since joining the Heat.. what does that mean?

Holy shit! russwest0 is having an epic meltdown! I'm pretty sure about 95% of his posts are about Lebron. Dude, you need to chill out. Even IF Lebron isn't clutch according to you, he's still a 4x MVP, 2x Champ, and 2x FMVP and makes more in a month, than you will in your lifetime (considering your intelligence, you must be either a burger flipper or a shopping cart pusher). Whether you like it or not, he has a chance of ending up as a top 5 GOAT.
