The kid who plays at my local gym has more heat than Lebron. Doesn't make him one of the best basketball players ever.

Picked a bad game to retire it on. The Heat will probably win by 25.

Mikan - 5x Champ and a career 23/13/3 player
Hondo - 8x Champ, 1x FMVP (21/6/5)
Pettit - 1 Ring, 2 MVP's (26/16/4)
Baylor - 8 (?) Finals appearances (27/13/5)
Cousy - 6 rings and 1 MVP
Pippen - Could score, rebound, pass and defend (greatest perimeter defender) at superstar level.
Ewing - Do I really have to explain why Ewing is better than AI?
Pierce - A ring and FMVP (22/6/4)
Gervin - Could score with the best of them and on good efficiency
Cowens - 2 rings and MVP (18/14/4) good defender as well
McAdoo - 2 rings and MVP (22/9/2)
Frazier - 2 rings and an incredible defender (19/6/6)
Bill Walton - 2 rings, MVP, FMVP injuries robbed him of a top 10 career
Gilmore - Champ, MVP, FMVP (19/12/2)
Wade
Wade on one leg is better than Peak Iverson.

You really feel bad for these athletes who spend millions thinking they'll stay rich forever. I feel bad for those families who get screwed by the government and go broke. Not these athletes who sign contracts that can financially secure their families for generations.

Forget where you'd rank him, he should be one of the most appreciated players to ever play the game. If you can't understand why a 5'11", 160 lbs player who somehow put up 30 ppg should be immortalized then you're crazy. Who cares that he wasn't the greatest decision maker at times, not the best teammate, etc. At this point with his career being over we should appreciate the inspiring things he did represent. There is not another person at his size who has ever existed on this planet that did what he did. No one. He should be viewed as a supremely unique person in the same way Shaq is and Wilt before him as well as Magic. There were/are players like Dr J, MJ, Duncan, Bird, etc. but there never was nor will there probably ever be another AI. If you instantly look at his faults and don't appreciate that he was on a level all his own pound for pound, then imo you're wayyyy too cynical.
He really is a human marvel.

Allen Iverson was a luxury liver, that is true.
But his downfall financially was because he was to generous of a person.
J.A. Adondale said after his retirement that at one point in his life he was support over 40 people at one time. Friends, Family, etc.

Iverson was a player of contradictions. He was selfish and suppresed his team mates abilities and could not make his team mates better, but he had great heart and a jordanesque will. He still has to be considered one of the greatest in history.
