Kobe is not waiting until Christmas to come back. He will be ready far before then. It's more likely that he will play on opening night then it is for him to until Christmas to play.

The 1225 refers to ESPN ranking the Lakers 12th in the west and ESPN ranking Kobe as the 25th best player in the NBA next season.

Well if it makes Kobe feel better I still have the 1995-96 SI NBA season preview and they picked the Bulls to finish third ... in the Central Division :oldlol:

Basically saying the Bulls were done, etc. etc. etc. Granted the issue went to print before they signed Rodman I think, but still they were far better than the third place team in the Central Division that year, obviously.

What's corny about using others' doubt as motivation? I don't find anything corny or insecure about that.

Kobe always had a thing for trying to prove people wrong. He put it on twitter so that ESPN and the public knows he's aware of the underestimation.
