although i enjoyed that video i ain't shocked i'm the first after the original post. the trolls run this forum, phagotts that say the are watching the nba for 26 years but compare adam morrison to larry bird , they beat quality posters who enjoy basketball.

i 'm sure i'm not the only one that thinks this way.

that pass at 1:00 was beautiful, and the defense couldnt even get close to blocking his turnaround.

a couple of those finishes were more acrobatic, than i thought walton was capable of, specifically off of that alley-oop that is thrown way too low

good find

As an alumnus of the school that Walton abused in this video I do not approve of this thread.

Bill was just great, shame for injuries, would've been most likely a top 5 center.

Bill Walton was always one of my favorite players. Most people only remember him for his 86 celtic days. He was a much quicker and more agile player before injuries took that away from him.
Could have been in the Goat discussion.

Yes, and he is one of the GOAT players in NCCA tournament. According to old newspapers articles they use to compare him with Lew Alcindor/Jabbar at that time a lot, because Walton succeeded Alcindor in UCLA. Although Lew was considered better player as an individual the press had rated highly Bill's team play. Sadly Walton never realized his full potential in the NBA due to above mentioned multiple injuries. His peak years as professional were between 1976 and 1978 during his Blazers days.

If Walton wasn't injured, he'll end up top 3 GOAT centers. Too bad. Helluva player and the greatest passing center ever.

Ahead Kareem, Russell, or Wilt? I don't think any of them. I do think the would be 4th, and it would be a big 4 rather than a separation between 3 and Walton, tho.

Ahead of Wilt. Not the other two.

That Larry Kenon they talk about just briefly on Memphis went on to play on the Erving-led Nets squad that won the ABA title a couple years later. They called them Dr. J & Dr. K... and then later on he was Special K, and played with George Gervin on the Spurs.
Dude was perennial ABA & NBA All-Star, ran a 20-10 statline year in year out, great player of those days. He had his own set of thrills and spins that of course we are not seeing on a Walton highlight film.
I think Kenon was in the first NBA dunk contest..... yeah found it 8:55 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ft56PoZSz3k
He was the other horn of the Iceman Spurs attack - if you doubled Gervin that was too bad for you, Kenon would smash it in from down low!

Walton's first few seasons in the NBA were awesome and he was probably the best talent in the league through the early part of his career when his body was good. Even in the highlights here you can see how Walton got treated a lot, like at 3:15 in the OP's clip.... guy going low under him when he goes up, pretty much deliberately trying to injure him.
Walton is known as a defensive genius but he & Chamberlain & Moses Malone are about the only players that Kareem had no answer for defensively (of course, he always returned the favor). Guys nobody could stop.
You can see a lot of Walton in Tim Duncan's game, Pekovic too in some ways, i.e., footwork. Bill's footwork doesn't get a lot of attention but he would spin before he got the ball and pin any defender with great ease by perfectly placed legs. Pekovic is the best in the league at that, and it's a pure Waltonesque tactic.
