Another way is all you have to do is put 10 in front of the y in youtube. So it would be http://www.10youtube.com/watch?v=oqEislGAcmU This takes you to another site to download the video in different formats.

McGrady might be the most arrogant guy there, the guy seems so into himself. Steve Kerr is giving an opinion and meanwhile McGrady is half asleep because only his opinion matters. Really shady dude.

I really like him as a player but at the last segment he seemed to me like a bad leader.I really liked Barkley(like always)and the one who surprised me was Rick Fox.He had some really good insight and valid points whenever he talked
Plus it was funny that whenever Wilkins talked everyone just kept quiet and not interrupt him. They must respect him a lot

I think you can find these on youtube..don't quote me on that though..
Anyway, I thought it was interesting to hear Dennis Scott say that Shaq thought Rik Smits was his toughest matchup...Shaq said he didn't know what to do with him because he could shoot jump hooks with either hand, could step out and shoot jumpers and he could bang with Shaq. Shaq said he wasn't that strong but he was heavy...But youngins on here would shit on a dude like Rik Smits, not realizing not many 7'4 centers who have an inside and outside game, can post up on either block and shoot hooks with either hand and on top of that he can run the floor. Wasn't much on defense but he was ok.

Part 2 however, they manage to get the Human Highlight Film on set and they talk about drugs and whatnot.. what a wasted opportunity.

I disagree too. He never cut anybody off, he never raised his voice, he never put anybody's opinion down. I agreed with most of what he was saying about Riley. Hell, he probably said the least out of everybody on the panel. He didn't even talk enough to be considered arrogant...

Exactly, also, I feel like McGrady was the only one, alongside Chuck, who had to balls to say what they actually thought, instead of giving politically correct answers.

Thank you so much for posting, I really wanted to see these. I love them. Isiah is so smooth with his political correctness while talking, but you can tell the truth is below the surface with him. Almost devil like in that regard. I'm glad Ernie held his feet to the fire about the not shaking the Bulls hands thing from '91. They pull no punches on this show. I like that honestly.

Same here.

I like the steady balance of role players and stars. You gain an interesting perspective from each of them on the same subject. I also thought Fox was good and I always enjoy Kerr's opinion. Kerr has quickly climbed up my list as an analyst and commentator. He's become terrific for college basketball, the handful of games he does a year.

Nique, TMac, and Fox are all good additions.

Meh. Nique is kind of boring. As is Fox to be honest. McGrady isn't entertaining, but he's the only one who can provide perspective on the 2000s era of the game besides Hill, and the rest of the 80's / 90's era crew.

JimmyMcAdocious
10-24-2013, 07:49 PM
Nique had a few good stories. Wanting to choke out his coach, Jerry West promising he would have went #1 in the 82 draft, etc. My only problem is that he goes on a little too long.

McGrady is honest. Talking about almost taking PEDs and nearly quitting the NBA in his last year in Orlando. You can tell it's all still fresh for him.

Fox is alright. He hasn't talked much in the first couple episodes. I'd put him on the same level as Steve Smith. But I would rather have someone speak when they have something to say rather than Shaq who will say something for the sake of saying something. You need role players (panel and nba player wise).

ProfessorMurder
10-24-2013, 10:46 PM
The biggest problem with open court is that they have too many people on. You don't need 7 players and a host for a 46 minute show.

They should have 4 people and Ernie. Then every couple of episodes switch out one or two of the players.

Anyone know where I can watch 307, Missed Opportunities?

There was a short clip where Steve Kerr was trying to talk about the 'fire' that separates all-time players vs legends, but Kenny Smith kept interrupting him with jokes.

I need to know what Steve Kerr said. (at 6:30)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLONYmXchTQ

Also in that episode, they were talking about why Jordan and Bird were so damned good. (Their flawless fundamentals made everything easier).

Just watched that episode a few days ago. All except Barry disagreed with Kerr's initial point about, essentially, TMac lacking that same killer instinct a Jordan or Bird had. The conversation basically evolved into the importance of college coaching and coaching in general to which they unanimously agreed that you learn certain fundamentals from great coaching that can't be self-taught.

It was an interesting perspective because a few on the panel played with McGrady and Zeke drafted him in Toronto. They talked about how having an experienced guy in the front office or on the team really helped with their development as a young player. McGrady went to Orlando and he had the world at his hands, but without the proper guidance to help him take advantage of the situation. Grant Hill kept saying how he wish he was healthy during their time and could show him what to do and not to do.

Great segment. Normally each one lasts like 5-8 minutes, or whatever. This one was noticeably longer without a break.

There was a nice cut after a commercial where they were talking about how Jordan so happened to play under 2 of the top 5 coaches in the history of the sport (Dean Smith and Phil Jackson) and then Zeke went off on how every one of his coaches from high school to the pros went on to be in the HOF. Implied their coaching was the reason he became the player he ended up being.

It's no coincidence these all time great players also had all time great coaches. Wish I had a transcript or link because basketball coaches seemed to be the most overlooked of their profession and hearing these HOFers, allstars, or just savvy basketball players who played at the highest level delve into how important coaching is, it really opened my eyes.
