A driver has been caught on camera slumped over, drooling and apparently asleep in in his pickup truck before waking up, causing a multi-car accident then fleeing the scene on foot.
A news crew happened to be in the area when the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon and captured the whole bizarre scene on camera.
Atlanta police are still searching for the driver, who climbed a fence and vaulted over barbed-wire after the crash over the weekend.
WSB-TV reporter Liz Artz called 911 Saturday afternoon when she and one of the station's photographers saw a drooling man who appeared to be asleep in a truck that was idling on Buford Connector near downtown Atlanta and causing a massive traffic jam.
A Georgia Department of Transportation worker woke the man up and tried to take his keys but the driver hit the gas.
The Department of Transportation worker was nearly hit when the man sped away and smashed into two cars, causing a crash involving five other cars.
The transportation worker managed to get the keys out of the car.
Television cameras were rolling as the unidentified man then exited the truck and ran up an embankment.
He climbed a tree and awkwardly scrambled over the fence before disappearing.
According to an incident report the truck the man was driving is registered to an address in Walkersville, Maryland.
As yet, police don't know who they're looking for and believe the man was either sick or drunk.
No serious injuries were reported.
