I knew plenty of guys who did cross country and did fine with women. Real women too, not skanky sluts, but people you'd actually want to spend time with. Also, it is a good sport to get into, because if you stick with distance running, you are more likely to stay fit than athletes in different sports, which will help when you are in your 30s.

I believe the theory out there on you is that you are not a teenager at all. I don't care if somebody is a gimmick or not as long as they don't annoy the shit out of me (you don't). Plenty of gimmicks have been loved (Wile E. Coyote, Applause, and Spell & Grammar are my personal favorites).
