that's quite awesome.

at the same time, they weren't hooked on smashed grains the way we are, no?

i mean, apparently, earlier cultures had better average dental health because they tended to eat whole foods. agree / disagree?

Oh yeah. If you look at ancient skulls the teeth are usually in remarkable shape. Fast forward to the 1600s when Europe acquired a taste for refined sugars and you see some interesting shit.

i guess it keeps you in business, but it's crazy to me how our culture is still catching up to this stuff.

bread, pasta, breakfast cereals, crackers, whatever else... and then the hell-field of processed sugars designed for palate and blood sugar spikes. i can say it like a boss, but i somewhat indulge myself. still crazy ppl doing crazy things to their bodies.

so we're at the height of human technology, yet still failing to recognise... how is that?

Of course most of those ancient skulls are from people who died in their 20s and 30s, which was considered normal back then, so you have to consider our human progress at least as far as longevity is concerned, even though we're destroying our bodies and teeth in the process.

ah, yes... right. and also, specific time period would also be of issue, i think. that time period during which most of us avoided bathing, owned two sets of clothes, and let ourselves be cut open and bled when we complained about feeling poorly... zoiks.

sapolsky observed in his study of baboons that the primary cause of death was from other baboons. like our ancestors, they too die young.

and yet, as he observed, it can all change in the wake of a disease-related catastrophe. then the alpha males can be swept away like dust, leaving the grooming class of males as... the only males left. it is like a brotherhood of the son without the actual jesus-figure.

you can almost hold your breath and wait for a schizotypal baboon to have a vision. maybe a more articulated language has to come first, though.

and fire.
