Gilbert Arenas...
Arenas hoofed it over to China this past season, where he played with the Shanghai Sharks, all while still getting paid $20,807,922 by the Magic. At the very least, the Magic were paying a productive player; he averaged 20.7 points on 50 percent shooting in his 14 games with the Sharks.
So that brings us to this season, one which Arenas will likely spend with no affiliation to the NBA whatsoever.
Between the end of October until the Magic (likely) miss the playoffs in mid-May, they'll be sending checks over to Arenas totaling $22,346,536.
Just three other NBA players are making more than Arenas will make next season: Dirk Nowitzki clocks in just under $400,000 more than Gilbert, while Kobe Bryant's salary approaches $30.5 million.

No contract that brings your team multiple championships, multiple FMVPs, and that makes the kind of money he's made for the team is a bad contract, period.

Selling Kobe's jerseys + Game tickets generate way more value than 30m...
Have you heard Rashard Lewis contract?

That doesn't help you win games though..
Off the top of my head worse contracts: Arenas, Amare, Lewis (is he still getting payed?), Pau Gasol, Joe Johnson

Would the Lakers have trouble selling tickets without Kobe?
Kobe got a five year deal if I remember yea? He also got two chips in those five years so I wouldn't call it the worst.
Joe Johnson :( three more years of pain!

no kobe is Not worst contract in league
despite his 30 mil he still produced 26,5,4 and brings lots of revenue and was top ten merchandise seller
so no not by a longshot
Gilbert Arenas who isnt even on a team is still getting paid 20 mill+,
rashard Lewis is still getting paid 20 mill+
Andrew Bynum with no knees, another knee operation and hasnt played 60 games ever got a max contract,
Erick Dampier got 10 mill plus
Amare got max 20 mill plus only to be used as a 6th man, like how are ya gonna pay someone 20 mill, call him the franchise, then when another star comes over basically relegate him to 2nd,then replace him for JR fn Smith and make him basically the 6th man
Asik got a max for basically 10,10
Roy Hibbert got max and his stats have regressed since then
12,9 and ya get max shooting under 45% for a c,ugh
G Wallace 40 mill ugh

No, Kobe makes up for his contract with jersey sales and the fact that the majority of Lakers fans go to games sorely to see him play. Its easily Amare Stoudemire, guy gets paid so that the team can pay for his 3+ surgeries a year while he chooses which tie goes best with the colors of the Knicks bench.

Have you not seen the empty seats in this year's playoff when Kobe got injured? :facepalm
Kobe is just a salesman like Jeremy Lin nowadays.

its not about selling jerseys and arena tickets only guys, the most important off-court revenue from kobe is the value he adds when it comes to add zeroes to tv endorsements deals.
