Around 2003 when I was 10. I started to get into basketball then and Wade naturally became my favorite player of all time.

Not a Heat fan, but I did see all 3 of their rings,
Gotta say, I found the 06 one so much more amazing, perhaps cause it was their first? I'm not sure, but the feeling, the aura, Young D Wade and an aging Shaq, Hustle Haslem and shooter/defender Posey.
The other 2 for me at least were like, meh so you got a ring.

When Shaq arrived. I was really a huge Shaq fan, mostly because of the movies that were aired on the Disney Channel. When I found out he was traded to the Miami Heat, I knew something big was going to happen. Didn't know much about the NBA until I began watching the 2005 ECF against the Pistons.

This has got to be the 500th time this question has been asked
I realize you hate the Heat.
The heat have a lot of bandwagoners and new fans
and the Heat are currently winning and are most spotlighted, talked about, criticized team at the moment.
But at the same time
Ive never seen anyone asking these questions
and criticism towards the Celtics and its fans,Laker fans,Bulls fans,Spurs fans.
I get that its currently "cool" to hate on the Heat
but damn hypocritical much.
Most Laker fans probably wouldnt be able to name or know who
some bench players were on Shaq-Kobe and
were most likely Bulls fans or always winning
Bulls fans were most likely Bos-Det-LAL fans
Every winning team had and still has bandwagoners and player stans
but I guess bc its "cool" to hate the heat
their fans are only ones questioned about when they became a fan
and can they name 12th man 20 yrs ago or past stars.
But to answer your q,
since I started becoming fully invested in NBA
and not just watching players, big teams, games
every now and then
So since 2003
a heat fan since I became fully invested and started watchin

If you became a fan of the Bulls bc of Jordan,
Lakers bc of Kobe or always winning,Spurs for winning,
Celtics for being greatest winner
you dont have a foot to stand on and criticize or hate
And if were going for you have to be from that area then most nba fans of a team are disqualified as fans of it
I really dont get the massive hate towards Heat fans
I can understand the Hate for the Heat, but its
beyond comical at this point with people trashing the heat and its fans

The NBA's fanbase is probably composed of a lot more younger fans than any other sport, so it's not rare for them to bandwagon what's the best team in the NBA. Happens to the best of teams with a nice destination and a lot of people.
If they became a fan from 2010... no problem, as long they don't switch during a season into Heat fans ala Shady6121 or whatever his name was. Same thing goes for any other fan.

These "fans" we are calling out are arrogant and have yet to "earn their stripes" so to speak...
If you were a Jordan/Bulls fan, there's been a good 15 years since the last title. There was quite a few lean years after Jordan left, particularly between 1998 and 2004. We have gone through years of disappointment and loyalty to match the years of success etc.

Poor fan? Based on what?
The whole forum bashes, and focuses its negative energy on 1 or 2 franchises on here. Heat getting 90% of the grunt.
Yeah, being payed to be a player and criticized is the same as being a fan. :oldlol:
The only time fans should be criticized is when they cheer injuries, like Bulls fans have in the past.
Or when team has to send them a letter to "fan up" or when they leave a Finals game early when the game hasn't been decided yet...
And to touch on your point about "Bulls fans cheer players injuries", first of all, that ins't isn't exclusive to Bulls fans. I remember back in 1992 playoffs vs the Cavs, Jordan was shaken up on a play and Cleveland fans cheered when it looked he was hurt. Then Danny Ferry took a hard hit on Jordan and a fight almost broke out. Ferry got ejected (deservedly so) and Cavs fans booed Jordan every time he touched the ball. Of course it was counter productive, GOAT went GOAT on them and that was the end of the Cavs season:oldlol:
To pretend that only Bulls fans cheer injuries is silly. Those that do are assholes anyways. I don't want LeBron or any other star to get hurt, much more fun when my team beats the other team at full strength.

Yeah, since one is completely harmless rival smack talk, but calling people paedophiles is fcking disgusting. Who made you the judge of what's disgusting? You calling other people ****.ots and your fellow Bulls fans wishing other people get AIDS are far worse. I say what I say in a light-hearted manner with no ill intent but I can't say the same about your fellow Bulls fans.
And how is cheering for injuries smack talk? I think you got it mixed up. Calling people names on the internet is smack talk and doesn't really represent a fan base. Thousands of fans cheering for injuries in your arena is more indicative of your fan base.

I've explained this 100 times, but I'll explain it again....
Cities like NY, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, ect. have a tradition and culture that's been passed down from generation to generation. We haven't had that since the Shula Dolphins, but that was so long ago that my generation and the younger generation have grown up to root for other teams (I chose to root for the Dolphins). We don't have many natives down here. They are mostly immigrants or northerners (especially NYers). Miami is not a traditional city, which is why the comparisons of them to those cities can't be done. It also didn't help that they tore down the Orange Bowl, which is a historic landmark. You don't see them tearing down Lambeau Field or Wrigley Field, do you?
Miami was never seen as a basketball city. This all new to people, but this team has brought people together, formed a tradition, and now younger fans are growing to become Heat fans down here. They are building a basketball culture here. Miami had no form of sports culture (like they used to) until the Heat drafted Wade, traded for Shaq, won a title, and brought the big 3 here to win titles.
So my point is, the one thing I will always appreciate about the Heat is that it's built a tradition and culture that we didn't have for a long time. Only down side is that the Dolphins are becoming irrelevant and fading away.

What does that have to do with fans being classless?
Also, only a couple of hundred out of the 20,000 people in the stadium left. The arena was still full. It wasn't like it was empty or anything.

Cheering for injuries is "harmless rival smack talk"? Did a kangaroo kick you on your damn head? Cheering an injury is absolutely disgusting.
1. Thrashing a player for staying out of the playoffs after being cleared to play is smack talk. We wanted Rose to play against the Heat. And you think the Heat fans are scared of Rose. :facepalm
2. People were making fun of Rose for sitting after being cleared to play. That's not "celebrating his injury".

And it's not like any Heat fans didn't cheer/make fun of Rose when he got injured. I usually don't just follow one specific team and call myself a fan of that team, but sometimes i like a team so much more than any other team that i guess you can say they are my team (like in the NFL I currently really don't care about anyone enough to say that they are "my team"...i kinda like my home team and i like to see them win so that my friends are happy on Monday, but they've made bad decisions and currently one of their star players is a criminal which makes them hard to root for).

But to answer your q,
since I started becoming fully invested in NBA
and not just watching players, big teams, games
every now and then
So since 2003
a heat fan since I became fully invested and started watchinUm, no. Most Bulls fans on THIS board have been fans for a very long time. Minus the trolls. Myself, I've been a Bulls fan since 1982 when they were on ONTV & Sportsvision (Orlando Woolridge, Reggie Theus days)

Actually, I registered right after the game, because I was pissed off and needed to vent. That was the series where Wade had that freak rib injury in game 5. Then Wade had to sit out game 6, and shaq was all like 'i got this' and then the heat got smacked by 30 pts in detroit. Then we lost game 7. I joined the official heat forums to vent, that the Pistons aren't better.
Either way, you are once again going by join date. I already proved my ISH join date is meaningless, and you tards who use it as any meaningful method of fanhood are dumb. I was a Heat fan since the mid to late 90s, when the Zo-Timmy teams were there. I watched most all their games as a kid. I remember cheering my head off when Dan Majerle nailed a 3pter to win the game and hand the Bulls a regular season loss, and everyone was celebrating like we won a championship. That was the season the Bulls only lost 10 games, when they went 72-10 I think in 1996. My fanhood is as old as possible for my age. I begged my parents to take me to games, and I was in the old Miami Arena for a few games.
You need to stop using Join Dates on ISH as any form of insult. And why don't yall losers point out Celtic fans? That Boston arena was a GHOST TOWN in the Antoine Walker days, they used to chant kobe for mvp in their own damn arena. All Boston cared about was the Patriots. Then KG and Allen get traded there, and suddenly they all Celtic fans again. But nobody said a damn word. Ya'll just hate on Miami cause we got more than just a team, you all are jealous of our party beach city and women.
And anyway, that was 2005. This is a new team. So you can't compare the two, if any fan became a "Shaq bandwagon fan" in 2004-2006, and they remained Heat fans since, then their statute of bandwagon limitations is up. It is not applicable in 2013, as this is a different team.
Else, every single Bulls fan that jumped on the Jordan train in the 90s, and is still a Bulls fan today, would be labeled a bandwagon fan.

That group could have been playing in Charlotte and I would probably watching them there. I'm no fan, I don't go to games nor do I know anything about their history. I don't label my self as a fan of the team. I'm just a fan of the game and some of the players.
What I think is more stupid is for example OKC fans. Really, how much of an OKC fan are you? Are you even from that city? Lifelong fan of what.. 5 long years? Been through all the struggles of not having Durant and Westbrook while being a lottery team? Did that test your loyalty?
Please..

I'll be real honest with ya'll. I wanted to see Lebron win
News break. Shocking revelation pauk. Why on earth were you not rooting as hard for Nash on the Lakers? In fact, we never see you talking about Steve Nash really, period.
It's usually just the man crush, LeBron. The hidden agenda thing doesn't work. It never has. pauk being a "Reggie Miller fan" and just liking LeBron's "game." sh0wtime being a "Lakers fan" ...
NumberSix being a "Lakers fan", yet never talking or defending their honor near as much as LeBron.
tmacattack33, yet is a massive LeBron stan. Mr Exlax the fake thug from Houston who talks more LeBron than he has the Rockets until recently.

Kobe fans, Jordan fans, Melo fans, Rose fans, Durant fans, Westbrook fans ... none of these guys are ashamed of who they root for, they wear it proudly. No bitch-ass-ness in their fandom.
Why is it so many LeBron stans are passive aggressive, pretend to be something they're not in order to validate their man crush opinion on LeBron? Why can't they be open and honest on front street about their fandom for James?

Your problem is you assume that every heat fan is just some LeBron homer. sure, there are some current LeBron fans who used to be Cavs fans, but they're a minority. The vast majority of us didn't even like LeBron until the summer of 2010. He's the teams current marquee player so of course he's the one were most proud of and rep the most. No different from bulls fans repping Rose, Knick fans repping Melo and so on. For some reason though, you think that normal rules don't apply to this one particular team. I've never heard people constantly troll Melo fans telling them they're not Knick fans. Its weird.

Ninja you were so called "Lakers fan" that didn't care about Lebron, then suddenly you turned into a hardcore homer and "Heat fan". Seems like you jumped on the Lakers bandwagon after their 2-peat but after things got rough you jumped on the Heat after their own 2-peat. How pathetic can you be.

Or, I've been a heat fan since 2004 being that I don't particularly care for Kobe. Either or.

So you have been a Heat fan since 2004 but never talked about them and instead supported the most successful franchise in the league, but then your inner Heat fandom blossomed right around the time they won back to back championships, makes sense.

Are you seriously trying to argue that I wasn't a heat fan before they won't back to back chips? For real? You never seen me Heat/LeBron stanning before the 2012 finals? Lol. Like, for seriously dog?

I remember you being a hardcore Lakers fan that didn't like Kobe, you commented on Lebron at times but never do I remember you being an actual Heat fan and being in their game threads every game. You always stated you are a Lakers fan at the end of the day.

That's because if you support Lebron, you get labeled as a Lebron stan immediately. I've trashed Lebron more times than I've supported him. Yet, I get called a Lebron stan by a lot of people. There's no middle ground when it comes to Lebron. You're either a stan or you hate him. If a poster trashes Rose and the Bulls fans stick up for their player, I don't see them being called Rose stans.
I called him a better scorer than Kobe (which he is, as he scores more points on better efficiency) and got labelled a Lebron stan. I said he's a good man defender and a great help defender and once again, Lebron stan.
You just can't support Lebron without being called a Lebron stan.

Lebron is the best player in the league, praising him doesn't make you a Lebron stan. Being labeled by idiots is irrelevant. The real Lebron stans are the posters who are so insecure they have to bash every other player to prop Lebron up and make themselves feel better about the fact they are supporting the "winner" and the best player on the planet.
They typically hate on Rose, Melo, Kobe, Durant and trash Bosh/Wade. Anyone who even has a chance to compete against Lebron is their sworn enemy. They try to redirect all credit towards Lebron even if his teammates play well too. But when his teammates struggle they are 1st to bash them so Lebron doesn't get any blame.

I'm not hiding anything. I AM A LEBRON FAN. I used to like Nash's Suns before but now I like Lebron's Miami. And when Lebron retires, who knows? I didn't even watch basketball from 2008-2010. The free agency of 2010 brought me back.
And I'm more interested in Lebron's Miami than Nash's Lakers. Also today I'm more invested in Lebron's Miami than I ever was with Nash and his Suns. If I was to sign up to this forum today my nickname would not be Nash. Still a fan of the dude, especially of his cool personality.
Hope that answered all of your questions.

I became a fan when I was 12 years old in 2004 and my hometown Miami Heat signed Shaq. I never knew or cared about basketball but atill knew when came to basketball shaq was the biggest baddest dude ever. It was buzzing throughout the city and then the whole dade-broward county area just went completely bonkers the night the heat won the chip and participating in the celebrations as a kid cemented my status as a lifelong heat fan. Thru thick and thin, from struggle 07-10 and championship 11-current
