My favorite part of the speech (recalling based off my short memory, probably not accurate word for word):

"I'm not a perfect man. If I were to go back and do it again I wouldn't change a thing, because if I did then I would be a perfect man. There is no perfect man."

He went through so much during and after his career and still has the balls to say something like this. This guy is a legend for real.

"Nobody wants to talk about what I did for the Boys and Girls club, or for homeless people."

Odd to see this considering that he hasn’t played in the NBA for a long time. He’s the first player that left me like wow when he left the NBA, because he’s the first Superstar that I clearly remember coming into the league and then all of a sudden he was leaving. Made me feel like I was getting old, but that was a few years ago.

Like a clear memory of him coming into the league, vs if I was a kid and remembering in that mind set.

I always wanted to see Kidd and AI pair up. Always felt they were the perfect backcourt duo, with Kidd dishing and controlling the tempo, guarding the bigger 2 guards where AI kills the defence with his speed and guard the 1s.

If I could build a realistic team around AI that can win a chip (in his time)...

Kidd
AI
Bowen
Sheed
Zo (past his prime Zo) or a Dale Davis/Theo Ratliff type of center

That wouldve been such a team

I don't even understand what that quote means. It sort of contradicts itself and I'm not even sure how to explain it. Sounds like he has regrets but doesn't even want to change them? Everyone makes mistakes. That's what he could have said.

Instead he says something like.. everyone makes mistakes but if I could change them I wouldn't, because everyone makes mistakes. Yes, but some more than others, and most would change them if they could. If they can't change them.. they try to learn from them instead. It sounds like he doesn't even try to learn from them.. because there is no perfect man.

Confusing ass logic. Dumber having read it.

Really dude?

He's saying he wouldn't go back and change anything because that wouldnt be true to himself. He is who he is and what he is isn't perfect, therefore going back and changing certain things would be disingenuine to himself and would contradict the entire way he lived his life

That would be an ideal team to but around AI. When AI went to the Pistons, I wise they would have traded Rip instead of Billups. I think that would have worked well too and maybe give the Pistons a better shot at a 2nd ring.

Damn, I miss seeing him play, dude was a beast in his prime.
Always taught me to just be myself and play with heart.
