If your govt gave you $500k, what'd you do with the money?

Rockstar is supposed to be giving Grand Theft Auto Online players $500k in-game soon. I'm bored with the game already and largely disappointed overall, but that's better kept for the Video Game Forum.

If your respective govt decided to give you $500k for free, what would you do with it? What would be the first thing you'd purchase? Or would you rather just store the money away?

Half of it to buy a rental property outright so I wouldn't have to pay any mortgage on it. The rest I'd probably put into a downpayment into a house for me at 350-400k. That gets a nice place by me.

I'd have more faith in the rental property's return than I would investing in the market. And the banks yield nothing these days.

I do have a very wealthy friend who runs a very successfull hedge fund. I'd consider giving him a large chunk of it.

Is your friend nice enough to reduce the 20% on profit and 2% of total assets? I would stay away from hedge funds personally, after fees you might as well just put it in the stock market.
