He needed 2 points for a triple double. Spurs were waiving the white flag and he pulls up a couple steps inside the half court line to nail a 3 at the buzzer.

That's some JaVale triple double padding shit:lol
What'd he do? :oldlol:
Contrived triple double and was not obtained w/in the flow of the game is what I'm guessing.

i would consider tossing up a three from near halfcourt while the other team is walking off the floor not to be in the flow of the game

That's pretty much what I meant.

Who cares? Its basketball. I've never understood this running up the score bullshit. The game is 48 minutes. Teams should be able to play the full time.

It's an unspoken mutual agreement that prevents unnecessary freak injuries, and thing like the Malice at the Palace.

Malice at the Palace wasn't because of running the score up... :oldlol:
Players decide how hard they want to play. If an injury is going to happen, it will happen regardless. If a team wants to rest its starters and slow it down, its on them IMO.
If someone wants to run the score up, prove a point, and maybe send a message to a rival, they should be able to.

No, but I never said it was, you need to check your comprehension son. The spark that lit the fuse on the powder-keg that was Malice at the Palace was an unnecessary hard foul at a point when the starters shouldn't even have been in the game.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that tbh, it's not like he came steaming in trying to dunk it, it was a long distance chuck.

agree, I actually think it was quite chill?:confusedshrug: :confusedshrug:
I mean ofc he would want that triple double, but it sorta felt more like those final shots youd throw up before the buzzer shots. I doubt batum thought its go in. Still why are we being so serious over a none issue :oldlol:
that ricky davis video though:oldlol: :oldlol:

Very Glad I drafted this dude in my league.
Batum seemed remorseful immediately, didn't think he would make the shot: http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2013/11/trail_blazers_beat_san_antonio_spurs_to_win_home_o .html

There was still time on the clock for him to get a much better shot, so I can believe that. Personally, I think that a part of him (the part that threw up the shot) wanted the triple-double, but for the most part he felt that the ship had sailed (the part that regrets the shot going in), so he feels bad about his egotism. He's probably also regretful about doing it against his French NT friends; Tony, Boris & Nando.
If it happened against any other team I would've been laughing riotously.

Should be nothing to be shameful about. People make too much of a fuss about late taken shots, but most players are fully aware when they get close to a triple-double and pretty often go at great lengths to obtain them without being critisized, because they do it with more "style". LeBron may have a night when he'd need 2 rebounds in the last couple of minutes in order to get the TD and he suddenly starts hustling like Rodman (see that 52/9/11 night vs the Knicks), Kobe sees he needs 2 assists and suddenly he plays like Magic Johnson, etc. And these guys care way more about their stats than Batum, so I say he has every right to get his piece.
