View Full Version : Are the Sixers for real?

So far they are overachieving this season, and they have the best record in the NBA.

Do you think they would fall back to earth once the NBA teams figure them out?

There is nothing to figure out. Its just a bunch of young guys with lots of energy, that no one has seen before, and a little bit of beginners luck. Nice 3-0 start, but they sure as hell aren't going to be a 50 win team or anything.

I personally think that people underrated them calling them the worst team in the league this season, but they aren't great. Might as well try and play some decent ball, because even if you don come last, there is still a 75% chance you don't get that 1st pick.

it's not even a matter of NBA teams "figuring them out", most teams still aren't going full throttle and are experimenting with lineups. Sixers will come back down to earth.

Its not uncommon for bad teams to start the season hot, and Sixers arent even a bad team.

Sixers still wont get to 4th seed.

without young rookie point guard MCW, tha sixers would be 0-3, so as long MCW keep his confidence up and play right, being tha facilitator and leading scorer than they will be fine.

Evan Turner has been their leading scorer so far. Do you even watch basketball?

i said if MCW be tha leading scorer than they will be fine, Turner iz not going to be that guy to lead them into tha playoffs.

The Sixers are a Kia with a turbo kit. It's fast and probably can surprise a few cars, however it's still nothing more than a Kia.

They're 3-0 with Turner putting up 23/4/4. So right now, they're fine. You really should start watching basketball.

No.

They are top heavy and the weak bench will start to come into play once the starters get tired from playing a few months into the season...

I give it 15-20 games and the wheels will start to fall off.

Lottery team. As they should want to be next year.

Still not entirely sure if MCW is for real, to be honest.

They're off to a great start, but it won't last. I see them winning 30-35 games and missing the playoffs.

MCW is shooting a rediculous 47% from three, which basically makes him unguardable. Which is opening up a lot of things for a lot of other guys who aren't exactly shot getters, like Spencer Hawes, who basically hasn't missed this season.

And Evan Turner, who excels at creating difficult shots, which isn't really a bad thing, because he can be like a pseudo go to guy, is shooting the hell out of the thing too at this point. As is Thad Young.

I can see all those guys getting a bump by playing with MCW, who will get guys easier looks. So all of them could be seeing a boost from the fact that MCW is shooting so well, particularly from long range, at this point.

But I don't expect it to last. I'll be rooting for MCW, but I doubt his own mother expects him to be among the league leaders in three point shooting this season.

A little like the Celtics, they'll play with energy, they'll defend, but they don't really have anyone who can create their own stuff (Turner can a little bit), so during the stretches when Rondo plays well, or MCW plays well in the Sixer's case, they'll look surprisingly competant. But when those guys are guardable, as will be the case for much of the season, these teams don't have a lot of other places to go.

Thrilled to see what they've done, but this is a 30-35 win team.

Young guys playing really hard. Give it 6 weeks for the fatigue of the season to start to set in. By Christmas everyone will be saying "what happened to the Sixers?"

the better question would be, if they stay above .500 should they make moves for a playoff push?

I honestly think people are just overreacting to 3 wins in the beginning of the season.

If anything you should look at the teams they beat.

Suns and 76ers will be the worst teams in the NBA when it's all said and done

Yep. It was the Bobcats last year. They were like 8-5 at the start and people were calling playoffs. Then they lost 18 straight.
