Australia's richest thoroughbred race is run today at Flemington, Melbourne at 3pm Australian Eastern Standard Time. Arguably one of the best fields the Cup has ever seen. Will anyone be having a punt? In 2010, $100 million was wagered on the race, nearly 5 times the country's population.
For those interested, I'll be investing on Foreteller and Royal Empire, both at odds 20-1 or over. Royal is proven over distance, although class and racing in Australia give people their doubts. Foreteller has one of the best turn of foot in the race. Whether it runs the distance is questionable, however if it gets some room in the last 200 and there's fuel in the tank, he will chase them down.
